Very true. He’s not played a great deal of football for a 21 year old. He’s stuck behind Sanchez too which is a tad worrying imo. I wouldn’t be surprised if he left, for his own sake if nothing else.
It depends if we buy another defender when Toby leaves, if we do buy a defender (in my world) he could go somewhere like Ajax on loan where they play passing football which suits him and he will also get game time

It does feel like rebuild time. There are significant issues across the squad.

It needs refreshing. Even if we replaced like for like in terms of quality, the freshness and new energy alone will give us a boost.

I think you are looking at the essentials as being; Goalkeeper, Centre Back, Right Back, Left Back, Centee Midfield x2, Attacking Midfielder/Winger and Striker. While that is 8 players in one window, it is actually 8 players on 3 windows which i expect is still less than average.
That's the point though. We went from needing 2-3 players to challenge a couple of seasons ago to now needing 8 because our owners fucked about. We won't spend money on 8 quality players, in spite of spending nothing on the sauad in over a year. We've put ourselves in a hole and there's no clear way back. It's utterly shit management; Levy's meant to be some master businessman but he's made an incredibly huge operational mistake there. It's already telling because this happened in Harry's final season and it's happening again. You need to spend to stay at the top, and we've utterly fucked it.

Would PSG pay big money to sign the national captain and World Cup lifter Hugo Lloris?

They might see him as a coup. Plus the mistakes he makes can easily be carried by them in the league they’ll win by 15 points anyway. Win for everyone...

This would be ideal imo. We typically only spend what we makes through sales, so getting top money for Lloris and Eriksen would atleast give us some budget to work with.

In all honesty the only players we shouldn't be looking to upgrade are Alli, Kane, Son and Vertongen. Maybe Winks as well. Obviously we can't replace the whole squad but for me no one else should be safe. Priorities are CM, RB and GK (although id be happy to try Gazzaniga out as number 1 next season).

This, selling Lloris, Eriksen, Toby Trippier and Lamela would give us a pretty healthy budget to play with. Would be a big rebuild but I think that's what we need if we are going to progress at all.

Didn't Poche noe intimate earlier in the season that he might need to be ruthless with some faithful servants this summer? Mason is an example of when he has done it before.

I may be saying this simply because the team is in a horrible rut that has I'm sure been awful for both fans, players, coaches, staff, etc. I also say this hoping I am completely wrong.

I am just getting a feeling that this is the beginning of the end. It was an amazing three to four year period, but with the fact that no money was spent on players for over a year and a half while everyone around us continued to upgrade themselves, we have to probably admit that Spurs were playing over their heads for a while now.

I keep coming back in my head to a comment made by JJ a few months back where he said something like "just enjoy the journey and try not to worry about the future". It sounded ominous at the time to me and it seems even more ominous now.

Frankly, it's been amazing that the club has stayed as in tact as it has the past three years. But now.... Moose left this winter. Toby and Eriksen will be gone this summer. Jan is 32. Europa league is looking more and more likely in the new stadium. How much longer will Kane, Dele, and others wait to win trophies? I think that's a legitimate question to ask.

So this special group is starting to break apart for the first time and there are no real signs that the requisite quality needed for top four will be brought in to replace them, given we have been linked with basically championship level young players at the moment. The academy is not exactly producing future stars right now. So if it is indeed Europa League next year, what exactly is going to get Spurs back to CL? Poch's magic can realistically only go so far and has probably already gone as far as it can go given what he has been given with transfers.

It is also becoming obvious that there are not just one or two areas of concern and need on the pitch, but several (replace TA and CE, new FBs, new MF, possible backup ST). Given how we couldn't add even one player over past 18 months, how on Earth are all the needs going to get filled in one summer?

Again maybe my outlook is tinted by the recent form, but with a lot of ineffective players that need to be jettisoned, very few youngsters that look ready to step in, and no real signs that major money will be spent (given continued transfer inflation), it is hard to be optimistic going into this summer.

Is this what JJ's comment meant - enjoy what we have now because we might not have a team this special for quite a while? I really hope not but....

Some may say "well, we will just have to spend because it's too important a juncture not to spend" which makes sense but the same thing was said last summer and it made sense then too. And we all know what happened... And that was with CL football. What exactly happens without it?

Made a list of goalkeepers I want us to be after, some on this list we shouldn’t be after lol but I just wanted to include them like Hradecky for example. Their age is in brackets and then when their contract expires

Young:

Onana, Ajax (22, 23 In April) 2022
Lafont, Fiorentina (20) 2023
Audero, Sampdoria on loan from Juventus (22) 2021
Strakosha, Lazio (recently 24) 2022
Meret, Napoli (recently 22) 2023
Pau Lopez, Real Betis (24) 2023

“Older”:

Areola, PSG (26) 2023
Perin, Juventus (26, 27 In November) 2022
Horn, Köln (25, soon 26) 2023
Hradecky, Bayer Leverkusen (29, soon 30) 2023
Rulli, Real Sociedad (26, soon 27) 2022
Keylor Navas, Real Madrid (32) 2020
Cillessen, Barcelona (29, 30 soon) 2021

Onana or Cillessen would be the dream. Onana just signed a new contract but that could be because Ajax want more money. He’s a bit overconfident sometimes when he comes out to catch the ball but other than that he’s really good, especially with the ball. Would be expensive but worth it considering how young he is

Cillessen wants to leave Barca and probably wouldn’t be that expensive. He’s turning 30 soon but that’s not too old for a keeper

Same issue for two years; lack of depth and talent in midfield. If nothing else I’d like to see us bring in three midfielders this summer to replace Moose, Wanyama and Sissoko and potentially Dier too who might move to the back to replace Toby. It starts in the middle... which has to be prioritized above anything else. If there is still money left over, next up are the full backs. But it’s amazing how many cracks a good midfield can cover over if other parts of the team are lacking.

Big big big summer ahead that will tell the players and fans alike if Levy and co. are going to make a solid investment to not only kick on but also to show the likes of Kane and Pochettino that they will match their ambitions. If not, next season will be the last for both of them. And we will slip into another rebuilding era. Might have the best training facility and a wonderful stadium but could end up with a very average team faffing around in both.

Depending if sissoko can keep performances up without much game time he could be a really useful player on the bench no? Will be much more effective running with the extra energy as a sub too

Nick Pope, please.

Even if it is as back-up to Lloris.

Either Pope or Butland (both 26) would be good options. Pope reportedly available for £10m.

Pau Lopez was evidently highly regarded when he was here on loan but Levy reputedly baulked at paying what Espanyol asked. He subsequently went on a free transfer to Betis where he is a first-team regular. Still only 24, plenty of experience, international call-up and known to the coaches - he could be a shout.

Papers saying Tielemens could be available at £40m
That would be a decent start
Him and Winks in CM. Dele as our 10 with Son and another on either side of Kane

Granted a new RB, CB and GK makes the calculations much harder!
I think we would go for younger players at all three of these tho and hope to bring them on. No splashy signings there

Love the idea of Levy haggling over a free transfer!
Levy: how much?
Esp: he’s gonna be available on a free :-/
Levy in default mode: that’s too rich for my blood. We can’t do business at that price. I was thinking ... you pay us to take him off your hands

I think the club needs to make wholesale changes this year or risk losing Kane, Dele as they won't want to hang around for long.

Remove Vorm, Trippier, Aurier, Rose, Alderweireld, Wanyama, Nkoudou, Lamela, Janssen & Llorente from the squad and replace them. Apart from Alderweireld none of them offer anything others we bring in can't so why flog a dead horse?

People say 10 out is too distabilising for the squad. A quick reminder that this squad we are so concerned with unbalancing has lost 14 games in all competitions this season.

Move them on and get a hungry new batch, we know what the current ones I've highlighted are capable of and it isn't enough so why stick with them?

In 12 months time I want to see vast improvements from Lloris, Sanchez, Foyth, Dier & Lucas (who looked good today by the way) or they can move on as well.

This isn't a support group, it's a football club with big ambitions. I would seriously shift 10 players to free up space for some fire in the belly, they've had their chance, the Auriers, Trippiers & Lamelas and they've blown it in the time they've been at the club. Move them on and start acting like a big club in its principles or watch the top 6 turn into a top 5 where Spurs ain't welcome to the party

Typical fan stuff in here. We lose away to Liverpool in a game we played well enough to win and it’s disaster stations. It hasn’t been the best season and we must sell half a dozen players and buy 2 or 3 very good players - but yesterday’s performance was not the one to cause despair. We played well.
