I'll always love spurs but interestingly I didn't bother to watch the United game, nor the highlights. Had better things to do, Still don't have a clue how we did!
I would cancel all and make sure I watched spurs previously, but it really has been uninspiring lacklustre stuff the past 2 seasons and the current squad is just drab. So it seems I know longer feel the need to watch every game

So I can see were the OP is coming from.

You want us to score in four passes or less, but not hit it long? I guess then you want us to just give possession away all the time so we can win it and score within four passes? But you're probably the kind of guy who slates a player for a misplaced pass too arent you? Can you add anymore contradictions?

Teams that have possession are going to play slowly at times to work space, when we win the ball high up the pitch we will look to spring quick.

Yes, I want us to score in 4 passes or less and not hit it long (I assume you're talking about the part where I mentioned the long ball to Crouch). You do realise players are allowed to run with the ball and on occasion, even take a player on? And no, I don't want us to just give possession away so we can win it back and score within four passes, I'm not sure what to say about that comment without sounding condescending (Oops, I've done it anyway. Sorry). Are you saying that every team, including ourselves, scores a majority of their goals by just giving possession away and winning it back?o_O There's no other way to score a goal in four passes or less?o_O FYI, I'm not the kind of guy who slates a player for a misplaced pass. (Don't know what I said for you to draw that conclusion) In fact I'm the opposite; I encourage players to make risky passes in attacking areas and applaud them even if it doesn't come off because the idea was good. And lastly, just because you made up some stuff about what you think I think, It doesn't mean I've contradicted myself.

As I said, I don't want our game to be about retaining possession at all costs. I'd rather lose the ball trying to create a goal than pass it back to our defenders so we can invariably start another move where we lose it anyway. I want players to take risks and I applaud them for taking risks even if they lose the ball, because if players keep trying to create opportunities eventually they will be successful. We will never create an opportunity passing the ball between our defenders. You win a game of football by scoring goals, not by how much of the ball you see.

I didn't watch the Man Utd game or the highlights either because I was at the Wales Ireland rugby game in Cardiff , probably 1st game I have missed in 3 years, I did ask my brother to txt me the score every 15 mins though.

I gave up my season ticket just after van der Vaart left, I just don't feel any attachment to the players we have right now.

I think for me this boils down to a basic different approach to going to games (and for that matter watching them on TV).

Are you a paying customer - in which case you've paid a lot of money (or time if you've gotten up at 4 am in some corner of the world) and so 'deserve' to be entertained.

Or are you a supporter, in which case you pretty much live in eternal optimism that this season will be better - and get the occasional games like Arsenal and Chelsea last season.

I don't think either approach is wrong as such but I am in the second category and so will keep my season ticket and keep being optimistic.

What will be interesting is how many spurs fans will make the trek to Milton Keynes to watch not very thrilling football...

I think the process with Poch is taking longer with Spurs than Southampton. Yes he is a conservative coach by nature and I think he is trying to instill a particular ethos into the side and the lads have not quite got it yet. All the stats point to a decent side with good solid formation and tactics. We maintain possession well and often dominate in that area etc. However, the players are not doing it fluently or naturally. Its something that they have had to learn and for better or worse it looks dire at times. The directness will come. We saw glimpses of it last season and like most young sides we lack consistency. I think we will see more fluidity and attacking flair as the lads get to grips with the way Poch wants them to play. Yes, sometimes it takes a season or two to gel. Patience is probably not the virtue it once was but perhaps we need some with this side's development and progression.

The whole... When we build the stadium they will come sit is aload of bull. I have mentioned this previously but by the time we build our stadium both Liverpool and Chelsea will have similar size ones and are both bigger global brands, Arsenal, United and City will most likely still be in the top four so...we will still be in the sixth best team in England.

I think some people believe once we build the new stadium we are all of a sudden become this new power in English football...and yes we are boring. MoPo has shown me nothing to suggest he is not another Avb.

What I want to know @Maske2g when have we had it so good in recent history? Where is this golden era of football we seem to have had and lost? I'm 34 and we're certainly a better club now than we were.

For me, we lack the excitement of the Ginola's, Waddle, Bale, etc flying down the wings, fast counter attacks, edge of the seat stuff!! 4-2-3-1 just pisses me off, Inverted wingers crap, slow build up boring to watch, sad times, its like the heart has been ripped out of the club...we have seriously lost our way the last 2-3 years, constant change of managers and players hasnt helped, its a continuous cycle that drifts us further away from traditional exciting flying wingers to the slow build up defensive football of today.

Guys, let us help our OP towards a win - win situation (till Spurs are entertaining again for him to watch live at WHL).
My suggestion is to revisit this thread a week before every home game. Check with the OP is he is going? If not, open up a
"ballot" and "vote" who deserves (gets) the free tickets to WHL from OP. Winner happy, OP happy coz a fellow Spurs supporter (winner) happy!!! ;) Win Win!!!

I gave up my season ticket just after van der Vaart left, I just don't feel any attachment to the players we have right now.

With the exception of Harry Kane, I feel the same way. Kane will probably leave in a couple of years anyway once he grows up a bit and realises how much more money and success he can find elsewhere.

I think the biggest problem with the team right now is that it lacks character. Doing some proper pressing twice in one season isn't character. There's no real sense of style. We've lost the flair players in favour of dull but generally consistent players, however the results haven't improved. It seems odd to think we used to have Bale, VDV, Modric, even Kranjcar. And now we have the likes of Chadli (the Belgian Dempsey)...someone I genuinely forget is on the pitch most of the time.

Perhaps more than anything it's the inevitable turnover of players that has damaged the connection between the team and the fans. I loved watching Bale play but I never really bothered forming any sort of attachment to him as it was clear his connection to the club was on borrowed time as soon as he hit form. A real fan favourite like VDV was apparently actively encouraged to leave by AVB. If we're lucky we might get one more season from Lloris. Kane seems to genuinely love the club, but would anyone really be surprised if he goes elsewhere in a couple of years?

People say that Pochettino is trying to establish an identity for the club by allowing a lot of young players to develop together, but if any of them prove to be greats they'll be off too, and the rebuilding will begin again. None of this is really a criticism of the club as it's simply the situation we're in (without having unlimited funds to buy or keep the best players).

It's already a dull prospect to inevitably end up behind richer clubs, but the tedious football we're playing to aim for being the 'best of the rest' makes it even more difficult to feel any sense of excitement.

Well we have more people on the waiting list for season tickets than there will extra seats in our new stadium, so I don't think that will be the problem. The increased capacity will almost double our matchday income, giving us a further guaranteed income stream to accommodate higher wages, which in turn will make us a more attractive prospect to a higher bracket of player than that which we can currently attract.

I Agree with the OP, In fact since AVB went (Well Bale went) we lost our soul and played awful awful football, then we got Tim who was too much.

I've not been to WHL since we beat Fulham 3-1? Hugo saved a pen, Think Tim was in charge, I still love Spurs but just don't feel the need to go watch while its like this.

When Harry was in charge i was gagging to get down the lane and watch them, even Europa games! We played lovely football, attacking, looked great.

We've looked good at times with Poch but not often enough? hopefully that'll change this season with the deadwood gone and more players who buy into his style.

The situation on Stub-hub is a strange one, never seen that many tickets for opening game at WHL, but it is Stoke... is it middle of august so could be forgiven. also just FYI the people that sell for higher than face value suck.

Yep youve got chadlis number spot on. He doesn't sit right with me despite the amount he scored. Can't argue with his ability to score but meh!
I watch football primarily to be entertained
