Tough on France. They had England on the back foot for a huge part of that match. They were unpredictable and adventurous whereas England with Ford and Farrell as usual became a kickfest. Farrell way off his best but he does stay calm even when he's off his game.

If there was a World Cup next year it would be fascinating.

All Blacks as on the rocks as they will ever be. Argentina the coming force. England both rubbish and apparently great. France getting back to being France again. Wales likely to lose to someone hilarious.

I say we have an interim World Cup.

France, albeit i am not impartial, are not back to being France. They are surpassing it as thr mentality is so much stronger and less, how shall I put it, 'spursy'of old.

All blacks always have a dip in form and re build.over 2 years to the wc.

England.need, in my.opinion a new direction. New coaching and to start blooding in new players. It all looks a bit tired and predictable.

England were better in the second half, and the usual game plan - play in the oppositions half, get penalty, kick penalty - would have seen them win, but Farrell missed 12 points of which he would usually score at least 9; and then he missed the first 'golden' kick. I guess in the end you have to give them credit for getting over the line.

Having said that the French were a breath of fresh air and it's a good job we weren't playing their first team!

Admit I'm biased on this but think Dombrandt needs to be part of that England pack very soon.

Not sure Billy is doing enough in terms of carrying to warrant the relative lack of skills.

The likes of Dombrandt and Willis need game time in the 6Ns to move England on to the next stage IMO. But it is hard because in the meantime they do keep rolling teams over...eventually.

England World Cup winner Steve Thompson says he can't remember playing in the 2003 final - something he believes is a result of brain damage he sustained playing rugby.

The ex-hooker is one of eight former rugby union players taking legal action against the game's authorities after being diagnosed with brain damage, which they claim is a result of their playing career.

Thompson is one of three players named, the others being Alix Popham and Michael Lipman, who will each file claims against World Rugby as well as the RFU or Welsh RU, depending upon where they played their rugby.

The legal firm representing the players, who have already spoken to more than 100 former players, believe the claims could eventually be on the same scale as the class action that the NFL faced from former players in 2012.

For Thompson, the severity of the consequences of playing rugby hit home when he was watching repeats of the World Cup 17 years ago and could not remember being on the field.

Not sure what to make of this. I'm pretty certain if Thompson had been told of the potential consequences at the time, like a lot of young people he'd have said 'Fuck it, I'll only ever get this chance once'. David Luis chose to play on last week after a serious head impact and most likely with full knowledge of the possible implications.

Back then people didn't know the risk of what he has. He accepted being battered/bruised/broken boned which could all heal to a certain extent.

That is a really tough read honestly. Lots of rugby players must have this but just keep quiet out of pride/shame. It's a ticking time bomb.

That's true, but how many players that have failed HIAs since they've been introduced (some multiple), have subsequently hung up their boots? I can think of many that have stopped playing because of physical injuries that make it impossible, but none that have done so because of concussion. George North is a prime example who's been knocked out many times and had all the warnings.

I think france are scarily good. They will dominate the six nations for the coming years and win their home world cup. They have so many good players now it's ridiculous. Depth in every position.

A decent group for england for the first time in ages. I fancy france to beat NZ in the group stage and win the whole thing.

Some england group games will be in lille apparently. An easy drive from the channel tunnel (on the border with belgium).

Eurostar stops in Lille. Been there with MrsToo for lunch a few times! :)

Ah sorry, it was in a telegraph article.
I am hoping for a game in Bordeaux, Nice or Toulouse for a bit of autumn sun and nice wine

Oh and the rugby

I have been on a few rugby trips and we mix culture and drinking, like I've walked past 20+ museums on the way to 100+ pubs
