It isnt about us being too big - we are certainly not given our lack of success.

I see things as baby steps at the moment... chasing trophies when we are in our state, and im not overblowing it - we are in a state internally and on the pitch. Im keen for our new coach to just focus on the bread and butter domestically and on the pitch fixing our identity and implementing his own style.

You say play the kids - the last time we did that, we lost against Pacos Ferreira and there was meltdown. Remember Mura? meltdown. and dont think we even played the kids, so the whole playing the kids, in theory yes, in practice? may not work and I think we need more than playing the kids.

Spot on. People want to play the kids at the same time as taking it seriously. We’ve seen what happens when we rest a couple of key players, it’ll be no different the next time it happens.

I think when we did this before however we pretty much had 2 teams. I would suggest bringing in 2 younger players alongside a couple of squad while still keeping the basic team. You could then rotate while still not changing everyone

This is the main bit for me...

Time on the training ground, setting a clear and distinct plan of how we want to build play and unpick defences.

Playing in Europe means we end up with a schedule of:
  • Sun - Game (Domestic)
  • Mon - Recover (light training)
  • Tues - Prep for Europe
  • Wed - Travel
  • Thurs - Game (Europe)
  • Fri - Travel / Recover
  • Sat - Prep for Domestic
  • Sun - Game (Domestic)

Compared to out of Europe:
  • Sat - Game (Domestic)
  • Sun - Recover (light training)
  • Mon - Review what went well and what needs work
  • Tues - Work on structure
  • Wed - Patterns of play
  • Thurs - Set-pieces
  • Fri - Prep for opponents identify weaknesses
  • Sat - Game (Domestic)

It's so much more than just playing Sun/Thurs/Sun> It's the travel, the tactical work and most importantly; time on the training pitch to get your ideas across.

Looking ahead, I suspect the latter part of this task will take more than a day each week 🫣🫣🫣.......

I dont really mind but a year out of europe with a new manager could be a blessing. More time to train the football back in to the players after Jose and Conte, get everyone knowing what they are doing

More importantly it means we can cull our squad right down as far as we can go rather than keeping shit squad players.

At this point I'd be kind of happy if we lost our remaining games and Villa got a point to finish 7th. I believe a year out of Europe could do us some good. Trim the squad and a lovely saturday kick off most weekends.

Will never happen though, and we're pretty much nailed on for the conference league next season. Especially since Villa have Liverpool and Brighton left.

Speak for yourself. I work Saturdays so I love the Sunday kick offs and I love watching spurs no matter the competition we are in so more midweek games in Europe and cups, the better.

ECL is a trophy chance. Simple as that. We haven’t won a single trophy in 15 years we have no right to be high and mighty and say it’s below us or a waste of our time. We need to start winning things again.

The infuriating thing is that our players will treat it as a distraction and we'll be eliminated in the early knockout rounds much like we have always done whenever we've been in the EL or ECL.

And after being wank for the first half of the season playing Sunday games with the classic Thursday shortened preparation and end up dropping points in 4/5 winnable games after European games that’ll leave us an uphill battle for whatever we’re contending for (top four, Europe at all, or relegation)
