I get that some people feel the need to defend their favorite drivers, I do it with my favorite football team, but look at it from a neutral perspective - The drive of car 33 had no reason to concern himself where car 44 was, once he went into the corner ahead. Car 33 saw a gap left open, he went through the gap, then used the width of the circuit and stayed within the white lines.

Nothing I've said above is untrue, but where another driver would've backed out when he saw Max ahead into the turn, Hamilton is a more competitive racer so he stayed on the juice and eventually ran out of track to go around him. If he had stayed alongside and been forced off, that's a different matter but, if you look at that first turn from a 100% neutral perspective, it was a racing incident and Car 44 gained an almost un-quantifiable but significant advantage by choosing to not back out and instead leave the track and return to it.

There is inconsistency and while I totally agree that the decisions made by the Stewards under that safety car, and the final result was really, really suspicious and undoubtedly will be debated and raged about for a long time between the two teams but, as racing goes, while one hand argues "X is too aggressive!" - It wouldn't be a problem if the person he was facing wasn't equally as aggressive, equally as determined to win, it's BECAUSE they are both such ruthless racers that they were there, and were talking about them and we got to see such a mental season of F1 in so many years.

Crooked, greasy fuckers who run it, the sneaky teams trying to mechanically one-up each other, the drivers sniping at each other off the track - 100% Formula 1.

He said that Lewis could have been argued that Lewis didn’t give back all the advantage, but it was a fair call from the Stewards iirc

I love how conscious they are of being heard, everyone is so polite it's almost cringe and you could hear the FIA dude was stressing hard. We probably only heard a fraction of the conversations he must've been having, i did feel a bit sorry for that guy, having to be the go between - "Hello, Toto? Yes, Michael says you smell and your car is ugly, do you copy that?... Yes... noted, I'll pass that on. Hello, Michael? Yes, Toto would like me to let you know that you suck tailpipes... yes, I think he winked when he said it... I'll tell him you said that..."
