And down the coaster we go.

EDIT: Purchases? So Lamela/Willian/CB/Coentrao?

This is from a different source but one we believe is decent.

"Fee agreed with Real Madrid a few weeks ago. Deal has been done. Agreement with Real that its will not be announced until we have concluded our purchases.

So long and thanks for the memories Gareth. It's been a pleasure."

That's several very contradictory messages we've had tonight so pick which one you'd like to believe.

This has been my thinking for awhile now. The way it has all worked out (Bale staying quiet throughout, Real Madrid "conceding" and all of this spending) just seemed to point to it.

JJ, Val and now the goat.

Quite obvious if you look at events objectively.

I'm happy as I believe we will have a much stronger team this season.

Fabio Contreau will be coming I believe :)

Well, if those purchases happen we are arguably better off. I just don't know if that's actually reasonable. Especially now that the spending appears as though it may have been as a result of Bale and not because Lewis has given us all of these additional funds.

Still don't buy that a world record transfer could be concluded so quietly, although the fact Real have been quieter of late may lend some credence to that ITK. However given how little respect Real have for anyone else do we really think they wouldn't be shouting that they had their man?

When was the press conference that AVB said there had been no discussions other than to say Bale was not for sale?

I would love Bale to stay, but would only be happy if he left for a lot of money, most of which up front and we spent it correctly and efficiently.

Makes sense out of Ronaldo's agreed-but-not-announced deal. They wait until Bale is announced, then simultaneously announce Ronaldo's mega contract, proving he's still the top dog at the club. That should placate his ego despite the Bale hubbub.

Can't see Bale staying... just about replacing him as good as we can. Eriksen, Willian/ Lamela, Alderweireld and Coentrao and we will be a real force.

Well this is a better way if true. We will know the finances we're working with and teams won't be able to try rip us off. Hope any deal includes Coentrao.

Also Willian and Lamela are imperative cant keep saying it!!!

Doesn't really sync with the behaviour of Marca, which is Madrid's mouthpiece. A few weeks ago Marca went into overdrive, hardly the behaviour befitting a deal being agreed and being kept quiet.
