Is it only me that feels Adebayor on song would be a good player to play behind Soldado?
I think Adebayor could be the best player in our squad to play infront of Lamela, Chadli and Eriksen.

I didn't guess Bale still had three more years left on his contract -yiddo or notEverything beyond what we are told by the club is speculation though, I could say that Levy has exchanged all of our cash reserves for chocolate bonbons and it has as much chance of being true as you saying that there is a zero net spend.
Deeper thinking is just another term for guessing, you've guessed/hoped that Bale was a yiddo through and through and JB is a terrible man living up to multiple stereotypes who somehow dripped poison into Bales huge ears that he must move to Real Madrid.
Fair enough, all I know is from the SSN interview where his fellow agent and interviewee said "we carry on business with other players" but JB himself said something along the lines of "forget everyone else, I'm off to the beach!" which suggests to me the bale transfer was something more than 'a drop in the ocean' to him personally.
There may still be hope of a Loan with the intention to purchase as is allegedly happening with Hulk next week.
Nest week is the emergency Loan week for "emergency" loan signings so perhaps we may hear more then
If you believe the Roma faithful, they believe they should have got £50m for Lamela. We got Eriksen at probably half his value because he was in his last year of his contract. We could have paid 30m for Paulinho, like City did for Fernandinho, and having seen Capoue for his first few games, we could easily have justified another 5-6m on him. Would people be happy then? After all, we wouldn't have a +/- 0 Net Spend.
I for one, am glad we have broken even. When January comes around, if any areas have glaring problems, we have funds that we can cough up. It's better than buying a LB, and a RB now, even though they are weak positions for us, only to find that we are in dire need of a player in January, only to find that the budget has all gone.
Are the people claiming that we should have spent more, and brought more players in, also saying that we can't expect results, as the team need to gel?! United built their team under Fergie from the ground up, and look what they achieved after backing the right man, bit by bit....a 20 year spell at the top of the game. I'm not saying that we'll go on to do the same, but AVB has shown that he has the nous to do good things for us, and he's young enough to still learn. We can't just buy 24 new players, and throw them together. We have the foundation of a superb team, and will continue to build on that. There is no reason why we can't go on to be the next Man Utd. But if we blow all of our money on players, for the sake of "Net Spend", we could equally do a Leeds Utd, and if that happens, no-one will be saying "at least Levy invested in players".
The bottom line is that we have essentially spent nothing this window. It's a break-even situation. Money out and money in was more or less the same. Our competitors spent more. What does that say about this club's aspirations?
I like our team. But it could have been better!
Entirely possible I'm wrong, but information put out at the time across the board was Adebayor cost us
£115k pw for 4 years + £4m signing on bonus.
He was on £170k for another 2 years at City to 2015.
He also held out for an additional pay off from City - as was still short by £1.75m in guaranteed earnings 2013-15.
He wouldn't move for a drop - never does, I've actually no issue with that.
Doubt Levy would subsidize wages for 3 years, whilst also taking a hit on the fee / sign on, and ALSO paying fee and wages of a new back up striker.
He's still an excellent footballer if he gets his act together, we need to focus on that.
This year should be easier as no AFCON and AVB has greater authority.

Completely disagree with you opinion, and all others that have said that no net spending shows lack of ambition. We were the top spenders this summer, we bought seven internationals and some of the biggest talents in world football. So what if we got a ridiculously good deal for Bale, to go anywhere near spending that amount of money on the type of quality we have brought in.
How much did United spend when they sold Ronaldo? Look that one up. Then think about how easy it would have been to plough the £85 million from Bale's transfer into our capital project, which (again) is a huge indication of the club's aspirations.
Seriously take a look at our activity, the fact that we have spent over £100m in one summer, the investment in training and a new ground off the pitch, and the top-level players we have purchased, many of which would have never considered us previously. I wonder if Lamela, Eriksen, Paulinho, Soldado et all think we aren't being aspirational?
We may need champions league to do more... I think we have done fantastic with what we have to offer new players.I like your positivity. And I like our team. I just think that we could have done more. The left side is looking a little weak in my opinion. We'll see.
But we didn't get £60m. We got £85m. And we knew this was coming. My understanding is that Spurs delayed the signing - not Real Madrid. We knew we had the money and we decided not to spend it. Net spend zero.
No probs - would have marked this as 'friendly' if we had the ratings. I would agree with you on the left back front actually. That is one area that could have done with strengthening, but from what the ITK said it was a case of trying and failing to get in the quality we needed (Contrao).I like your positivity. Great news (if true) on Halilovic. But what's this Hulk news? Is there ITK on this? How can this still be possible?
I agree with you completely, and I would like t see another keeper, but I do feel that it would be difficult to find a better 2nd choice keeper than Friedel. Perhaps we should have looked at moving on Gomes and getting in a young keeper to work as an understudy to them both as a replacement for Friedel and in the longer term fight Lloris for his place.

Since when did spending money automatically guarantee an improvement on anything in life??
Get your head out of your arse, this is real life not your fucking playstation!
