i didnt expect Dl to go for either, i truly thought he would of learnt from previous experiences and gone for an Elite, experienced top manager, the other 2 are good but not in the same league as say Ancelotti, Benetez.. i just think a young manager is not the answer, as it hasnt worked before.

In fairness we have no idea who he went for. Everyone is assuming Benitez would be interested in leaving Napoli. For all we know Levy enquired and got knocked back. We just don't know.

Possibly, and I know more experience generally mitigates against the risk overall, so to speak, but every appointment still involves some.

I'm confident regarding Pochettino because he's demonstrated his coaching ability to great affect in this League for the last 18 months.

That's a very relevant factor and for me that also reduces the risk somewhat, despite his age and relatively short time in management. The consistency Southampton have shown, in terms of their style of play and approach to games, has been pretty remarkable to be honest.

I agree ! its very funny and i love the ITK picture from the training ground! I have absolutely no idea if it was taken today at the training ground, it looks like an airport but still very funny! I do know we met today and all will be revealed soon.
It was Poch 1 FDB 2 so depending on how today went we should be clearer very soon.
I also may drop the Cantona classic on twitter about 'When the seagulls follow the trawler, it's because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea'. Then turn off twitter for 3 days and go to bed !
No questions or A & E will do his brick top impersonation.

Did anyone interpret this as we met them both today, or is that out of the realms of possibility?

Yeah im not doubting that for one minute MP but we are talking about DL, i just feel DL doesnt treat young managers with respect, and basically he needs a kick up the arse!! Anybody that goes against DL gets shafted, we need someone that can command his respect imho, i just dont think Poch will get the backing he wants!

i could be wrong, i hope i am..DL just pisses me off if im honest!!

Not in the same price range either. Would we get either of those 2? Ancelotti is at Madrid and Benetez has a good thing going at Napoli.

Well the amount DL has spunked on hire'ing and fire'ing im pretty sure the sensible option would be to pay more initially, saving him the cost of compensation after every year or 2... to me that makes sense.

No I doubt we met with de Boer today. By all accounts we did so earlier in the week and he's set to leave tomorrow on a much-deserved vacation.

That's what Baldini is for. He deals with the manager and the board.

i think you will find DL makes decisions wether Baldini likes it or not.

What I'm saying is that Levy will not deal directly with the new manager. The manager will deal with Baldini and Baldini will deal with the board.

I doubt that my friend. It seems to me that Levy meets with the manager rather often, which is why Sherwood knew he was fucked pretty early since Levy just stopped communicating with him. Remember he also cited Levy as the one who was constantly asking him in January if he needed any acquisitions.

So old school that i've never heard of him!

This is awesome. Veteran ITK comes out of retirement for one last run. Brilliant!
Stopped posting around 2006/2007ish I think. Used to be very active.

Martinez>all for me. I'd love it to be true but seems we're far down the road on others.

On an even basis I'd certainly agree with you, but after the season he's just had with Everton if he's ready looking on and up (given he did so with three loanees) then I fear he'd do the same with us after a year or two if things went well. Part of why I favor de Boer and Poch is that I like to thing we could hold on to either of them for quite some time.

Fair point.
