Taken in context to where we were at the end of Mourinho's tenure we can now field an eleven of Forster, Perisic, Lenglet, Romero, Royal, Spence, Bentancur, Bissouma, Gil, Richarlison, and Kulusevski from that time period.

Don't think we can ask much more coming out of that period of management and Covid.

We're only three or four players away from revamping the entire squad! If we have to wait another 12 months to do this then it's not much to ask.

Wolves are looking to sign Jason Denayer on a free transfer. He's a ball-playing defender, homegrown from his time at Man City, and Belgian to boot. Does anybody who watches Ligue 1 have a good read on whether he could do a job for us, assuming we're still looking for CCB backup for Dier?
Never really rated this guy. Only just found out Dendoncker joined Villa. Always thought he was a useful player

Decent window in that we strengthened the squad plus bought a few youngsters.
Don’t believe we have improved the team as such so this could be a problem as I think some others below us may have. Time
And tactics will tell
Agree on the window. But I prefer to say we strengthened the squad. As our newbies get settled we have a more than 11 starters. But still away to go.

There are a few things to take from this window and the ITK has been great to follow and see develop. Thanks for all the snippets and insights.

We got a number of deals done early, that was key and ensured Conte worked with these players in pre-season. A positive which builds on bringing in Deki and Bentancur in January.
The market is tough at the moment, see how Utd have struggled. European clubs don't have cash flow, players we want to move on weren't likely to be picked up by Premier League sides so getting a contribution to their wages and playing matches is about as good as we could get. The flip side is not so much movement and therefore harder to bring the level of player in we are expecting. Could be a good season to take on Spurs in FM...

I like how the squad is shaping up, not yet perfect but we'll see how it goes

Most important move?

Kept Doc around.

If for no other reason, he is Harry’s best bud. And has a lovely goatee.

But in all seriousness, this was a 7 out of 10. The main missing ingredient for me, was an attacking option like ASM or Zaha. It’s no wonder we were speaking to Captain America (Pulisic).

Not saying there aren't any better RWBs than the trio we have, just that how many are available?

Hakimi - why would he swap PSG for us?

Aarons - If he is as good as that hype, he woulda been snapped up the moment Norwich got relegated

Tariq Lamptey - That's what we signed Spence for

Ricardo Pereira - injured for an eternity

Denzel Dumfries - Deal with Inter

Reece/Trent/Walker/Cancelo - really?

If anything, we'll still have to ship one of Doherty/Emerson out first.

No self-sustainable clubs can afford 4 RWBs in their side, need to register in squad too.

Trippier would have been perfect for Conte, can't help but think we missed a trick there
I agree with all except the last line - Trippier wouldn’t suit Conte’s formation, he’s was always better suited to being a FB and not a wingback

Don’t agree with that - Trippier’s best asset is his delivery so being further forward suits him. The better question is whether he has the engine to get up and down and be the man at the back post when we attack from the left

Massive opportunity missed to challenge for the top prizes!
The thing I think they fail to grasp is that the world class elements we have in our set up won’t be here forever, the time to go for it was now.
So frustrating!

Let's not forget we had to actually pay for Romero and we still have to actually pay for Deki. That would very much be taken into account with the £150m, amongst other non transfer related things.
I can't help but feel we are one short. However it's difficult to know if our targets were actually obtainable.
If Kane doesn't sign a contract that will start to loom over us too so maybe we are waiting for other things to happen before doing anymore.

Would of been nice to find permanent homes for some of the exits so their wages can be budgeted beyond the season.

Yeah I think that’s been a frustration of mine too. Europe just seem broke. Let’s hope things are different at the end of next season.

Sure, not trying to sound negative, but a club like Spurs, a top 4 club in the most profitable, most popular league in the world, will have to invest this every year if you want to compete.
We are just so used to not do any large amount of spending, so when we hear 150 mill, we go mad and throw our hat around in joy, just to get a reality check and see that we are 4 years late to the party with 2022 inflation and the new norm is 200+ mill.
And no it is not ALWAYS the clubs that spend the most that wins, but they are always there about, at least the ones that spend every year and have a solid foundation.

When I see all the midfielders that moved this Summer I'm disappointed we didn't/couldn't bring in one of them...
  1. Vitinha
  2. Fabian Ruiz
  3. Carlos Soler
  4. Eriksen
  5. Paqueta
  6. Matheus Nunes
  7. De Ketelaere
All of those would have made me feel much better about our squad and options we have to change a game. Right now we basically only have Richarlison.
The issue with this is if Conte even would have wanted them. If the answer is 'no' then it is completely redundant

I could be wrong but I'd still be shocked if Paratici brought any of these guys to the table that Conte would flat out say no.

He's historically always made use of a pretty good passing midfielder in Pirlo, Pogba, Fabregas at Chelsea, Eriksen/Barella, etc.

I'd put decent money that it will be a focus for us next Summer to find someone of that ilk.
