What about the loan deal for Lisandro Lopez as reported by L'Equipe. I could live with him if we also get Diame.

Anyone who thinks we do not need a striker, just consider the following. Here are the most up to date stats on our two recognized strikers' recent form

Defoe: 1 goal in the last 9 EPL games on 37 shots. He is also currently carrying an injury. It is clearly foreseeable that he will struggle the rest of the season.

Adebayor: 1 goal in his last 8 EPL games on 18 shots. He has been away from the squad for several weeks already. Togo are likely going to beat Burkino Faso this weekend, which means the earliest Adebayor will be back in England is February 11th. When you consider his lackluster form in league play and his various injuries thus far, it's a huge risk to count on him to score 10 goals in the last 14 games he plays.

We need a minimum of 15 goals, possibly more, from these two to seriously contend for 4th place. Can anyone see them pouring them in at that rate? Even then we'd need Bale to continue scoring, as well as a few others from our central midfielder.

Negredo and Lopez would be huge gets for us. We almost certainly won't find better than them in our price range in the summer, so those who want to roll out the "I'd rather wait til the summer for a true worldy" should save it.

Aulus basically got sickened by their extravagent spending that had produced nothing recently and is systematically purging the team of the top earners and putting his faith back in the youth setup that made them so powerful in the first place. I have a lot of respect for that, despite the Lloris transfer being an epic fubar

Lopez would be a much better choice for than Negredo imo. Saying that, if we could get both and we wouldn't have to watch another inept Defoe performance I would be delighted.

Surely they want to progress though. Loaning him to us wouldn't do much good. I'd assume theyd rather sell and get more money in. Unless of course they aren't that bothered about the competition and would rather concentrate on the league where I think they are joint top.
