This simply isn't true. You cannot count a net spend when you have just recieved a world record transfer fee!! We have spent in the region of £120m this summer, more than anyone. And we have strengthened the squad from last season. It is not about numbers it is about the balance and strenth of a squad. Yes Arsenal have spent more net than us but only added one good player, we have added 4 or 5 and lost 1 so players wise we have a better net spend.

Did we? I don't think we did...

Guys, we spent just under 60 million in the last summer window, and it looks as if we've recouped the 100 million spent earlier through Bale. Would it be safe to assume then that on the basis of last summer, we should have at least 50-60 million to spend?

That could be enough to fund a 30 million bid for Hulk and a 15 million for a left back like coentrao.

Or is this just wishful thinking ha

We clearly have at least another 20 million more pounds to spend. We were prepared to sign Willian for 30 million pounds, on top of Lamela. Whether that money ever gets re-invested into the squad is a matter for debate, but there is no question we could buy another player or two of real quality if they were available.

I would find it unfathomable that we don't bring in a left back if BAE leaves.

We did spend £11m of that £30m on that Danish fella.

Media outlets now strongly reporting BAE off to QPR on loan with Carroll.
Surely this should mean we have lined up another left back ?

I'm conflicted...

We have signed too many players IMO, and it has/will disrupt team spirit and harmony...But.

...If BAE is sold and no LB is signed leaving Rose as 1st (and only) choice at LB, i will be disappointed.
Also Same with strikers, Soldado is not the right striker for the system we are playing, (Benteke was) we need a stronger forward to lead the line. (not writing Soldado off, just in a 4-3-3)

Don't agree with the Soldado part, wait until we have Eriksen in there.

Hulk on loan makes sense, not for 10m mind. It will give eriksen and lamela time to bed in and cover our striker position. Less risk than buying. Would be a good deal I think. Was worried about making him our record signing, less to lose this way. Ssn reporting it so the news is out there, has legs IMO.

It is always humorous when people post suggestions without thinking!

Without thinking?? He plays across all 3 including the middle. Shall I pull up clips of him taking the ball on the left and middle as well to prove that there was "thought" behind it?

Add in to the fact that he's quality, that Newcastle would sell if the money is right and he would fill a position of need and there is more "thought" to it than your mindless post.

Ugh, that's a horrible move for Carroll if true. I don't want him grubbing around in the championship and FRAAB-ing.

Heard that the one that is open is the outgoing windows from Germany. Incomings to Bundesliga closed at 12 noon local.

Don't think that's correct:

The deadlines by which clubs must conclude any transfers remain the same: the Deutsche Fußball Liga GmbH (DFL) must be notified of a possible transfer and the player's name must be added to the official transfer list by 12.00 pm, with all contract documents signed by 18.00 CET.

Arda Turan still sounds like a perfect fit - buyout clause of 20 mill pounds, plays left wing but is interchangeable in several spots along front, would fit great with Eriksen and Lamela behind Soldado as all three could switch around and are creative. However, I can't help but think this would have happened already if it was going to happen.

IF the special purchase comes it won't be a super market trolly purchase, it will have been lined up already, Levy is not going to spunk £45m or even £30m on a last minute thought. I was told a few days ago to expect something special on Monday and haven't been told anything different. Just saying.
