Quite crazy we've made 7 signings so far (Udogie for next year to be fair) Yet still likely to make 1 or 2 more on top of that.

That's actually incredible business if we pull it all off which i'm sure we will.

Biggest thing for me is our strength on the bench, we played our usual first 11 against Chelsea, the one that got us top 4 and still had massive quality in Perisic, Bissouma and Richarlison to come off the bench. As well as Arsenal have started, go look at their benches for their first 2 games, awful compared to us. That will be the difference IMO

Interesting point but probably one for the Squad thread.

There is no way Conte will consider a 17-year old from the Championship as a viable CB option for this season.

Looks like we have got our center back!

Love it. I bloody love it. This is the kind of thing that took us from mid-table to the level above.

Signing the likes of Udogie, Gil, this guy - it lays the foundation for succession, and injects talent and young ambition to the squad.

Am really liking that we're doing this kind of thing alongside the bigger name players. Would be chuffed if this came off.

Love that we are making these young homegrown signings again and building for the future as well as the now. A big part of our rise years back was when we bought the likes of Walker, Bale, Lennon etc all under 21 but with bags of potential, it doesn’t always work out for all of these types of signings but it’s great succession planning and we need HG players for the squad quota’s so this is really great news if so, really feels like we have such a good plan in place now with the squad building and we are executing on it well. Very Exciting times.

This has been a bit of a weird transfer window - 7 signings, all quality as far as I can see but I still feel like there are three position in the first eleven or just outside it that need addressing (RWB, CB and AM) - based on the ITK I would be surprised if we find solutions to all those issues (or are even looking to) before the end of the window so not sure how to rate it really.

The word direct from the head coach is that a squad in hs own image, to be truly competitive, will take more than one Window.

We've got 4 options for RWB already. No chance we sign another one.

My thoughts too. Lots has clearly been done to rebuild the squad but we’re still short in some key positions (at least quality wise). The RWB position hasn’t really been addressed in ways we might prefer, especially given the ITK that Spense isn’t Conte’s choice, while an injury to Romero or Dier would really see a dip in quality at the back. Meanwhile we’re only an injury away from relying on Moura in attack. This isn’t to denigrate our efforts so far, or to even assume business is complete, but there are still obvious gaps that not being filled by appropriate personnel or quality could impact on how successful we might be. For these reasons, I’m not calling this an outstanding window yet, and perhaps it’s also unreasonable to expect everything to be achieved but some perspective is needed here, as the game on Sunday showed
