To be fair Monaco are one of the successful clubs in France. 7 league titles, runners up in both the CL and Uefa Cup.
More than City or Chelsea before they got taken over.

If Monaco flops this year, it'll be interesting to see how all of these established talents react. Most likely they won't care so long as they keep getting crazy wages, but for some that may want to experience the bigger and better things, they may want out and find themselves jumping ship.

44p per second apparently.
Tax free.

But, think about the star names who went to Russia - how long will it take for the novelty to wear off and them to want to play for real fans?

That's over £1500 p/h.. Yeah now I can see why they'd want more than £20k p/w.. No way could I survive on a measly £1500 p/h!!

When you earn over £20,000 a week you spend over £10,000 grand a week like we would spend £100 a week based on earning £400 week

That was a whole lot of numbers and weeks in the post

That's because they choose to spend those sums of money & live like they do, though. They're dicks!! I know this'll just get laughed off, but I just think of players like Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes etc etc. Each, at some point in their careers, deserved to be right amongst the biggest earners in world football, each was probably even more important for Man United than David Beckham was, yet each just got on with their careers. You never saw them in the paper for their off-field antics, their absurdly over-expensive lifestyles, or their "I'm more important than any of you" attitude. Is it just a generation thing? Is it just down to how they were raised? Are they just able to appreciate what it's like to not always be a spoilt little bastard?

I don't know the answers, but I do fucking know that I wish there more people like them in the modern game. Paul Scholes especially!! What an absolute professional he was, just did his job, went home & we never heard anything about him until he had to go and do his job again the week later. Absolute class act, a dying breed, a breed that will soon be dead altogether, as will the game we've all grown to love.

EDIT: Sorry guys & gals (and A&C ).. Went off on one there

Can't see them flopping. It's not as if they are signing James Milners or Gareth Barrys. It's a team of Yaya Toures and Sergio Agueros so far.

a) Monaco had fans when they made the champions league final against Porto.

b) Think about it, would you rather live in Monaco or Russia? Or for that matter Monaco or anywhere else on the continent?

What's wrong with Seven Sisters?

They are as much to blame as any other party. It is not like Falcao wouldn't have earned more than he needs for the rest of his life at another club, yet he has chosen to join Monaco for the extra money. When you are earning over 20000 a week, the argument that you only have a short career kind of goes out the window.

Was trying to say the same thing in response to that post you replied to but couldn't find the words.

Well played sir.

Do you think there's a reason for that, rawhide? could it perhaps be down to players being away for International duty etc?
Since when are players integral to transfer negotiations? That's why they have agents! ;)
