hertyid on 'we have money cos we bid 20m for bera in the summer': I know for a fact that we don't have free cash flow right now, it's all being reinvested into the NDP.

Worrying if true.
Not really, Spurs have been building cash reserves and showing strong profitability to get better financial terms for the NDP. With the new TV money and the fact we are £40m net transfer profit for past 5 years and still have an increasingly valuable squad we re in a better position than we have ever been in our history. Levy I am sure still understands you need to have a team to fill a big stadium!

We're a very prudent club and generally reinvest transfer money such as Andros fee. I'm sure we will invest some of this into the squad in Dembele and who knows who else.

We've got no deadwood left (other than Yedlin), so the Townsend and Fazio money may have to fund anything we do in the summer too.

8 years now (Jan 08) since we moved from £20m annual transfer budget to zero net spend

Weird that, as it's only now that 99% of the punditry media are saying that we are the youngest, most dynamic, best defending, most dangerous attacking, most desired manager, most England represented and best team to watch in the PL. and it's costing us nuffin!

Always business loan opportunity. I doubt Andros fee is already put into NDP so that should cover a transfer in like Dembele as @yido_number1 mentioned.

Whilst Its clear that we are being more prudent, there are multiple commerical benefits for getting CL so I doubt levy is going to close the pursue if Poch feels we are short - if no signings it's obviously Poch is happy

For anyone interested, there is an ('understands':cautious:) story in the Dembele thread including the amount of initial payment.

Worrying if true.

It would be if we weren't investing half a billion quid into becoming a top-tier financially competitive club.

With the growing TV money, UCL football looking likely, a growing host of incredible young talent and new/greater revenues the NDP will bring I don't think the size of our transfer budget will be a primary worry in a few years time.

Not really. We've been in the same position for the last 5 years.

Yep, nothing's changed!

Makes having Pochettino as manager all the sweeter, even more so for DL. Strong league position and very positive style of play, without spending massive amounts. Correct coaching and using our academy much more can and will save us millions.

Behold the madness that is our transfer policy.... You'd think that at some stage some lessons of horrors past would have been learned...

Yeah the madness of our policy, the sheer horrors of an approach that has resulted in a club packed full of talented youngsters that is challenging at the top end of the table. Jesus Christ.

Best thing is we prob won't need to sign anyone (After MD) if the players carry on improving. Well covered all over the pitch and maturing youth means we need very little investment. When youth products that dont make it with us get 10-12 million we won't be shifting dead wood just selling the lesser gifted/suited accademy products like Townsend, Shaq, etc

We know for a fact that is incorrect... (snippet from The Goat for you there).

Get a minimum of top four, win a cup, save our money and go buy a go buy buy a top class player or two in the summer. Meanwhile we get targeted players if the deals are right but don't need to go and buy second best. Now that would be my thinking
