Earlier in the month we had news from Levy himself, that a lot of business, by the nature of the process, would be toward the end of the month.

Notwithstanding Peace's protestations about the lateness of our approach, negotiations will have been going on for probably most of August. His agent will have acknowledged our approach and given us the green light to speak to the WBA a long while ago.

Now, if Peace was adament that his rhetoric earlier this evening, is his final word, he would have not given Levy the rope with which to keep this process going. He woludn't even have given the bids made and publicity, or have his key striker get to the point, in order to push his sale through, of handing in a transfer request.

It's my opion, that this whole charade is by numbers and will culminate in a Aug 31st sale to us with Peace having got across to his fan base, that he's extracted every penny from a notoriously tough negotiater in Levy so that he's looked after the best interests for the club. He has his replacements in so that part of his statement is a smoke screen and more guff to fluff up his stance.

Berahino will be a Spurs player.

We will end up with Borini, this place will be mass suicide, JJ will retire, Trix will find an axe for Levy and I will be sitting in the same seat that I normally do letting Levy know what I think of him. Anyway before all of that and this place turns into the bipolar central it is, I am off for a dump.

Great post....after initially panicking and reading this I suspect this isn't the last of it.

All ITK suggests Son is/will be a replacement for Lamela.
Berahino was clearly suggested as happening alongside Son. Berahino is a striker, Son is an attacking midfielder who can fill in, much like Chadli. This does not make them strikers, and over the course of a season, we'll need more than just one striker and 2-3 players who can just 'fill in'.
So I f Berahino truly is no longer happening, and to be honest I still believe this is just more gamesmanship prior to a deal being done, then the club must have alternatives lined up. A striker must be/will be coming in alongside Son.

Still expecting Son, Berahino/a CF and CM.

With this summer's transfer balance already in the bank rumoured to be around £17-20m (depending on who you believe), plus £30m ish in Lamela, Ade, Lennon and Fazio. That's a pot just shy of £50m, Berahino and Son would be £45m ish, then I'd guess £12-14m on a CM. Yes, that's a deficit of £7-10m ish, yes, that goes against the form of recent windows, but with increased TV money, and a streamlined wage bill, surely doable.

Seriously get a grip... We are seemingly signing Son and will no doubt have other options. Wait for the window to finish before your toys exit the pram...
