It's Sneijder, plain and simple - there has been far too much smoke without fire concerning their interest in him and he has got to still be in their thoughts and I still think it's a real possibility.

Dont believe for one minute that United are interested in Vucinic, I reckong his agent is just trying to drive his price up.

What the hell would United do with Vucinic, they've just bought Young...and have Valencia, Nani and Park who all play in wide positions. Upfront they have Rooney, the little pea and Owen etc...and the biggest factor of all is Berbatov cant even get in the side as first choice.

Berbatov could be off and they want a replacement but I sincerely doubt it.

If United make another signing it will surely be a creative central midfield player.

Have to say i'll be gutted if Vucinic goes to manure and we miss out on yet another striker, I think he'd be great for us

Let's not forget, Ferige always got his man in the end, even after facing stern opposition in the form of Levy.

That being said, I can't see them offering the kind of money we would even consider as reasonable fare for, umm, the "M" word so I agree that even Fergie knows it's a deal too dear for even them to complete.

Roma striker Mirko Vucinic's agent claims to have held preliminary discussions with Manchester United regarding a transfer.

Montenegro international Vucinic, 27, has been strongly linked with a move away from Roma this summer after five years in the Italian capital.

Juventus were thought to be favourites to land his signature and Blackburn were also credited with an interest, while Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini admitted earlier this week a departure was almost inevitable.

United now appear to have emerged as surprise contenders to sign the talented forward, with his representative Alessandro Lucci saying contact has been made with the Premier League champions.

Lucci admits a deal is a long way off being agreed as there is not an offer on the table at present, but he is keen to see how things develop.

"It has only been a chat, in which no offers have been made nor was there an agreement sorted.

"The English club, however, really like Vucinic, but to see him with the shirt of the Red Devils, there is still work to do."

I think you're right, but could be us and others though...

Always the conspiracy theory. Either he is a smoke screen or we are not announcing to do a double signing or the club is reneging and wants more cash or they are trying to get more money out of us. Occam's Razor folks. In the face of evidence (and sorry ITK is speculation never evidence), the simplest answer is usually right. And the simple answer is that we never bid and he won't come.

Levy doesn't have the stones to pull of a big deal that's why he mucks around and pays lip service to "money-ball" but never uses the principals. In fact, he actually does everything they say don't do. And guess what, those principals would 99.9% guaranteed work to get us into the top four yearly. Metrics not feelings.

Vucinic would be in the bracket of our record fee (16 million,or there abouts) so its not like we are talking about ridiculous money. We've signed three players in and around this amount with Bentley, Bent and Modric.

i really don't actually beleive we are in for him

i know there has beeng ood ITK on it..........but everything else seems to suggest otherwise

Just because he's pretty much what we are looking for, over 6 foot, strong, can hold the ball up, bring others into play, set up and score, play on the left or as the main striker, is quickish, and is still only 27 I think?

Definitely what we need imo, plus the big factor he is a very good price and we wouldn't have to break the bank. If we miss out on him we will regret it.

Come in, log in, see 4 new pieces of ITK regarding Vucinic, Diarra and Gio and think there must be massive news. After checking each new piece of ITK I am slumped in my seat, deflated.

This window is a complete and utter shambles so far.
We needed an early big statement and have failed miserably. 18 days until the season begins? Fcuk!

I am in complete agreeance with you. He is the one striker that I have wanted all window and several windows before, when Berba left he is the Man i wanted to replace him.

If he goes to Utd, especially when they don't need him, it will be the first time that I have been gutted this window.
