It's time for everyone who is getting depressed/stressed out about the Soldado situation to take a step back and get some perspective and relax. Even if we don't get him, it's obvious the team is serious about signing another striker this window, which is something to be happy about in itself. i'm confident we will get SOMEONE this window.

Think about it this way... last season we were 1 point away from champions league football & had our club record highest points total DESPITE having 2 strikers who were (according to some) complete and utter shit. And that was with a brand new manager and bad injuries to important first team members (kaboul, sandro, dembele).

This summer window we've already greatly strengthened our midfield and added depth to the wings, which should at the very least yield better service to our strikers. What i'm trying to say is.... it will basically be impossible for our strikers to do any worse than they did last season. And last season we were 1 point away from champions league football. Things are guaranteed to be better next season, even if we are "stuck" with adebayor and defoe again, which is pretty unlikely as the club looks serious about signing a new striker. Stay positive guys.

Right, so according to the latest ITK, if Soldado trains on Saturday, we are less likely to sign him.

There is surely, therefore, only one sensible thing to do: Go over there and break both his legs. Then he won't train and we can sign him easily. Probably even get a bit of a discount.

No, I don't see any downside with that idea at all.

Ohhh, right. Yeah, okay, apart from that.

Couldn't we just sneeze on him a lot, give him the flu?

Humph. Hopes up, hopes nearly crushed again.

I know there are other targets out there, but Soldado would've been the ultimate - I never thought we'd be able to get him or even that we'd try or that he'd be interested, he is that good (same as I assumed incorrectly with Lloris) - if we go from being able to convince a player of his quality to come to us but in the end can't/won't pay the fee (and I'd rather have ntot bought Chadli and got Soldado if we're short of cash as a result), then I do despair of us I really do.

Soldado is the absolute best possible striker we could get - if we can afford him, we need to get it done. It would transform the whole team.

Wow over an hour since the last post. I think this Soldado deal has taken the last bit of energy we had. The ITk's are in hiding.

We need some good news.

Think the Suarez deal will take some time. Will Arsenal really fork out £50m? They might decide £25m for Soldado is a better deal.

Soldado, Osvaldo, Yilmaz, Lopez, Doumbia, Morata, Muriel, Chicharito, Fred, Ben Yedder, Cardozo, Rodrigo, Martinez, Kiessling...

Or maybe you're right, and the fact that we have taken more than 48 hours to sign a player that a week ago most of us didn't even realize we had a chance at signing, means we definitely won't sign anyone.
