Why the snarky tone? I'm just discussing it.Hindsight's great eh buddy?
How were we to know he'd even want out of city?
We wouldn't have tried to make him part of the Walker deal unless we knew he was interested.

You could be right! Just discussing. What if City gave us a deadline to make a decision? Hercules said earlier that we have to stick to a net zero spend to keep the banks happy. If the Walker deal fell through we would have had to sell someone else before we could sign anyone.

True but how long have we known aurier was available it seems from the ITK that we know it's close and just waiting on paperwork, surely that is enough for optimism. The one I can't get my head round is the situation with Aurier. I get the logic of waiting til the end of the window for opportunistic buys or 'nice to haves' but we've known that Walker has been leaving since around March time and that the options we have at right back aren't considered strong enough. To then fast forward 5 months and still not have signed a right back and instead keeping our fingers crossed that the home office will play ball with Aurier is beyond farcical.
Exactly, we'd be sitting here with Walker on gardening leave with the BSOHH moaning that we'd only signed a 3rd choice keeper, as we wouldn't even signed Sanchez otherwise. What if City gave us a deadline to make a decision? Why would we not have signed Sanchez anyway? We obviously have money to spend.Exactly, we'd be sitting here with Walker on gardening leave with the BSOHH moaning that we'd only signed a 3rd choice keeper, as we wouldn't even signed Sanchez otherwise.
All because of a kid who has never even been picked to sit on city's bench.

Do u really believe that?....come on mate. Why would we not have signed Sanchez anyway? We obviously have money to spend.
Er, yes. We're allegedly about to drop £25m on Aurier, around the same on Barkley, and £10m on Foyth = £60m. So why wouldn't we have had the money for Sanchez back then?Do u really believe that?....come on mate.
Transfer dealing always seems risky with unscrupulous agents and deceit around every corner, it's a game of high risk and I think levy always plays his hand like this I think will will be alright. My point is why leave it this late to fill a position that will leave us significantly weaker if we don't when we've known the situation for 5 months. Hopefully it will all pan out but there are no guarantees, just far too risky IMHO for such a vital position
The place is toxic. It is not a good environment for a youngster as it once was. That is not a bias statement. Our facilities are also far superior to theirs. 'Charmbalin' as Whinger calls him, has had enough. His dad wants him out. Not the same place it once was. 100% facts! And he should use Oxlade Chamberlain as a barometer for reasons not to go to them
Haven't you been paying attention to the pattern of our ins and outs over the last 5 or so years?Er, yes. We're allegedly about to drop £25m on Aurier, around the same on Barkley, and £10m on Foyth = £60m. So why wouldn't we have had the money for Sanchez back then?

All I said was that I didn't think we needed to sell Walker before getting Sanchez in. I didn't mean that we could keep Walker too.Haven't you been paying attention to the pattern of our ins and outs over the last 5 or so years?
And people used to say the net spend argument was a hoary load of bollocks.Haven't you been paying attention to the pattern of our ins and outs over the last 5 or so years?
Exactly, that's for another thread though. And people used to say the net spend argument was a hoary load of bollocks.
Pitty indeed, it might have meant that we won against the chavs by giving ourself the best possible chance ,having our dealings done in good time, after all the objective of Football is to win matches and have more points than your competitors come the end of the season. But we have to try and be too clever by half in negotiations. It is a recurring nightmare and imo embarrassing. Thanks for the info, it's a shame we can't be a bit more aggressive and clinical in our pursuits a bit earlier in the window
You can see the cracks from afar too; last year was evident of that. My father in law supports them and he's so frustrated with the club because they offer too much in wages and then struggle to move shit players on because no one else will pay those wages. The place is toxic. Maybe it had nothing to do with waiting until the end of the window maybe it something to do with the fact that he had a court appearance to appeal his previous conviction so maybe we had to wait until that appeal was successful. Maybe knowing that if his appeal was successful a visa and work permit will be a formality was why we didn't just go and get someone inferior. The one I can't get my head round is the situation with Aurier.
