Poor old Benjamin

So instead of being a literal reference to Benjamin, the 'old' bit means we could be looking at the etymology of the name instead- the older meaning.

Ben = Son
Jamin =
right hand (the south / of strength)

Therefore
=
Son of the South
=
Son
heung min of South Korea.

Lost me at "etymology " eh? What the fuck does that mean?:eek::D

Meh, I give up.... It's all just clutching at straws, in the hope that Levy really will spend some money on delivering something on the pitch rather than putting it into the stadium. We all know how it's going to end.....

Assuming Trix is a proper crossword hobbyist / connoisseur (maybe my first mistake) ...

"Poor old Benjamin, I keep calling him but he just doesn't hear me. So I took him to see Dr Ross, who has done a really good job of fixing him."

Phonetic clues/homophones:
Triggers for these clues include sounds, hear, call, say, said, told, speak, reportedly, apparently, etc.

Pop sounded more distant (6) FATHER
Heard tiny insect rush off (4) FLEE
First course requested on tray (6) ENTREE
This planet whirled, I hear (5) WORLD
Walt's mentioned a dance (5) WALTZ
Bound to sound like the tide (4) TIED

So I would say the first half of the sentence is a phonetic or homophone clue. A homophone involves words that sound the same but have different meanings and spellings. Still no idea what it is though ;)

I can't see Trix would post a cryptic about Berhaino,l unless there was an element that involved someone going the other way

I can see why people think this relates to more than one person. Can we know that at least?

Also....

Clutching at straws:

A&C has said that two cryptics would be revealed today. Son was most definitely peoples favoured choice as one of the cabbages (Kramer and Son).

Could just be that this cryptic has the same answer as that previous, infamous cabbage debacle....

Eh when did I say that?

I swear some of you must run these posts through some sort of LSD infused bablefish type app before you read them.
I'm genuinely not sure whether that should be corrected to "Babel fish" or "Babble fish".

Given how this thread is, probably the latter actually.
