Don't worry lads, we can get bowled out for fuck all again and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory!

It's actually embarrassing to watch this... All the 'big' names doing nothing to justify their selection!

4 wickets for 9 runs! Be interesting to see what shit Jos and Mott come out with after this failure!

the players like ducket, roy etc, must be wondering wtf tbh, this is brainless..again
Jason Roy has taken a dogs abuse in this thread. But park that aside, he missed all four warm up games with New Zealand with a back problem so his fitness is probably what counted against him. We were all gagging for Harry Brook and I think players like Duckett and Salt were a bit unlucky (and possibly the future now), but then again who do you leave out, a case can be made for all of them.

I doubt anyone knows what's gone so comprehensively wrong here, it's a fall from grace that absolutely nobody saw coming and it's been spectacular in it's scope.

It'll be interesting what Rob Key and the ECB do about all of this.

My guess is nothing! Just lots of platitudes and apologies and holding up of hands! Players have already been rewarded with new central contracts so not like any (maybe Malan and Ali) will retire.

Another winning chance thrown away where the only way we could lose was by being bowled out and we oblige every fucking time by refusing just to bat normally.
And then when we're 5 down we start trying to bat the overs, only to let pressure build so the lower order have to score quicker.

It's just so dumb.

But Butler is still the best man for the job... :wacky:

I just can’t work out why these contracts were issued before the WC finished, looking at the squad I can’t see five or six of them being around in six months let alone in two years time. That would have been prior to the contracts being handed out, it’s almost like recognition of failure.

the answer to this question will undoutebly be sacking Mott/Buttler, re-prioritising the Hundred, shelving or downgrading the Blast and 50 over domestic comp.

basically anything but shelve the Hundred.

Just looking at the results and it’s not like we’ve even been anywhere close in any of them, we have been completely annihilated.
Yes our bowling has been total village but today they gave the batsmen a really good chance and yet again they failed to deliver.
Look at these scores:
India 129ao (99-9!)
SL 156ao
SA 170ao
Afghan 215ao
If you don’t score runs you don’t win games, that is our biggest problem.

our batting was always our strong suit - when teams knew we would either bat them out of the game or chase anything, it brought the bowlers wickets and created pressure. now that's totally gone.

the stats over the last 4 years have shown our batting slowing down, and being bad chasers. and the bowling is not improving.

they've seemingly spent 4 years trying a million players, only to decide almost none of them were better than the ageing, under performing, and rusty 2019 squad.

Can't believe what Stokes did swiping like that. It's a shot you do when there's no time left to do anything but swing for the hills. What's been hard to understand is like the Afghanistan game all we had to do was bat the overs out and the runs would be ticked off but we end up in a situation where the game is pretty much gone with half an innings to go. Only they know what's been happening in preparation for these matches but it can't be that the whole lot of them have all lost form at the same time.
