The umpires are told now that the batsman's position can be taken into account. I've seen balls well outside the tramlines not given as wide because the batsman had moved right across.
I agree, but for it not to be a wide they’ve got to fully shuffle across the wicket before the bowler releases the ball, otherwise it will be called a wide.
