The old thread was locked after a couple of chaps decided to fight it out with claw hammers. So, does anyone else still see him as the next best option if all the rumours about van Gaal come true?

I see him as the best option, and rate him higher than LVG.
de Boer isn't unproven though, lots of champions league experience, previously managed Eriksen and Vertonghen and won pretty much everything worth winning as a playerI think it is probably going to be someone like him, Pochettino etc. A young manager who has shown some potential that we have to take a punt on somewhat. We aren't going to get a proven name.

Exactly. All he could realistically achieve by coming to us is slightly damage his blossoming reputation. Unless the planets align, which they won't, and we achieve something remarkable. The odds aren't great though.I don't think our fans have enough patience to employ a manager like FdB.
I don't think he'd come to us personally. Stay with Ajax, Ok a smaller pond but compete for titles and in the CL every season or deal with turmoil off the pitch and utterly unrealistic demands from everyone whilst doing it with a fraction of the resources of his competitors?
You'd have to hold him back from signing on the dotted line for us no doubt.
If he keeps on doing well he might even get the Barca gig in a couple of yrs etc etc.

I think sticking with, and achieving success with Ajax is the way better option for upward mobility.I think it depends on his outlook. Ambition against realism. Maybe he would see a club like us as a stepping stone to the big time. Or he could stick with Ajax in the belief that he can take the step straight to the top eventually.
