Yeah mate, I can see what was bought and how much we get, but not who bought it.

If you want me to check it shows up on our list you can PM me what you bought. Typically we get around 5%.

Guess that's about the size of it.

I think COYS will be in "lite mode" on Monday (no searches, PMs, etc).

May be an idea here as well.

Oh, and thanks Rob

PMs should make very little difference.

I turned search off earlier and I've now prevented guests from viewing in here.

Some interesting suggestions but that's where it falls down I reckon. There's no link between user accounts on here and on there for posting/commenting.
Why does that matter?

Also, with the planned move away from vBulletin, you could become an OpenID provider, say with URL's like http://spurscommunity.co.uk/user/Lanh or even http://spurscommunity.co.uk/Lanh which they could sign in over there with, or integrate Google Accounts via API.

That would put extra load on this server of course, but I'm guessing that it's nowhere near the same load as people constantly refreshing this place/all piling on here.

Yeah that doesn't help us short term but it's definitely an option in the future. For example, the new system we'll move to supports Facebook login and I'll look into the Google Accounts API as well.

Makes me think that it's IPB you're planning on moving to, they support Facebook/Twitter integration out of the box.

Seriously though mate, look into outsourcing some of the heavy load content, the way that people all pile onto here when other forums go down, I suspect that such a blog set-up as offered by Google would be ultra popular with Spurs fans around the world, especially in times of transfer windows, purely because of the uptime/openness of it, and it screams opportunity to me, in terms of raising revenues.

Out of interest and purely because I'm a nosey bugger.

Why was someone at the gaurdian to blame?

He spent all afternoon bigging up some major news they were going to break at 5:30 and get everyone wound up.

It turned out to be Inter rumoured to be interested in Bale.

Someone put a link up saying that there was going to be a massive transfer story breaking on the guardian website, then another bloke over on Coys said 'fabio to quit, harry to england, Jose to us' in the same few minutes, coys servers went nuts with everyone trying to get on there, then when it went down everyone came here, massive hit on the servers in trafiic on both sites i reckon. :)

I was expecting a long outage when the page errors were coming up, so big kudos for sorting it, mate

I think it was the ITK info on Mourinho to Spurs that triggered the COYS meltdown.

Rob is the server the reason the latest post option is gone from the quick links bar?

That's part of the disablement of search. Very big loss to usability, but so would the server being dead.

I reckon Lanh should be made a mod so he can make technical suggestions in the mod forum.

And it would be quite funny to think of him in there winding them all up!

As much as I love Lanh, mod material, I'm not so sure ;-)

But, he is too valueable to the forum to go off dissapearing like all mods do as soon as they are promoted.
