I dont believe we were trying to sell him. He wouldnt have started against Arsenal and Man United if we didnt value him.

Good player but if a decent bid came in for the man made of glass then i guess we should consider it.

"The Man of Glass"

Fair enough, he's been unlucky over a couple of injuries, but he's not exactly delicate

Besides, under Wendy's new fitness regime and his Bull-fighting-nutritionalist (love that job title haha) have hopefully put an end to our injury situation jinx - have faith, Phantomio...

Wouldn`t have been surprised if he was on JR`s " Sell List " at the beginning of Jan but he has done well since. Can`t make my mind up about TT, think i rate him, sometimes.

Was anyone else surprised that we tried to sell Teemu? I thought he has been very good at centre mid and right back this season.

There is a difference between TRYING to sell someone, and accepting a bid for someone! There are a lot of factors to consider when accepting a bid. I doubt though that having not sold him that anything will change as far as the player or club are concerned. He will probably start tomorrow.

TT is our modern day John Pratt. Who would ever have believed that he played for so long? John Pratt, Michael Brown, Paul Allen, Steve Hodge, Teemu Tainio, Stefen Freund, Oyvind Leonhardsen....TT sits very well with these other Spurs players. Would you worry if any of these were sold by us today? A trifle harsh though SS57?

I don't know why we would even consider selling Tianio.
With players such as TT,JJ,Hudd and O'hara, Zokora should be worried about getting in the team.
All those players are far better than him.
I wouldn't be suprised if he moved on in the summer.

TT is very good for 2nd tier clubs like us( for the time being). If we are to seriously move to contend with the top 4, we must upgrade by replacing players like JJ by someone better.

Tainio's days with us will come to an end soon I'd say.

It's a shame really as he's a great squad player who'll never let you down. He'll get a good few games before the season finishes (presuming he stays fit that is) but his lack of quality (not a great passer/goalscorer) will probably mean he'll be let go.

As our best man marker though, I'd be tempted to keep him as he's a better DM than Zokora

Miles better than Pratty, and Leonhardsen. Pratty never gave less than 100%, played in every position but goal, but was so-so to bloody terrible in all of them. How he managed nearly 400 appearances is a complete mystery—we used to joke that he must have been Bill's secret love child.

Phil Beal's maybe a better comparison. Although he was the only player to score more goals against us than he did the opposition.

According to most accounts Jenas was pretty ho-hum on Wednesday, but whether that was because TT was missing or Jenas being, well, Jenas, is anyone's guess.

I'm sure Juande will be going all-out to sign at least one CM this summer, but every team needs its Tainios.

Shortly after he became a first team regular, Pratt was described as one of those modern midfielders who are busy running all day, but practically achieving nothing.

Tainio's a very good player, but like Lee, he's vastly over-rated by some. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's sh1t or even average, I think he's a good Premiership player, but his level's around Aston Villa or Birmingham City. I'm glad we have him for the squad and feel comfortable with him playing in a number of positions but I think when everyone's fit we have a better alternative for every position he might possible play in.
