Away to Belgrad. I would prefer to rest a few.

-----------------------Vorm------------------------
--Naughton----Fazio----------Chiriches-----Davies--
--------------Stambouli-------Mason--------------
---Townsend-----------Paulinho-----------Lennon--
-----------------------Kane-------------------------

Subs: Lloris, Dier, Veljkovic, Dembele, Chadli, Bentaleb, Soldado
Travel: Mc Gee, Ogilvie

They should do the business.

Playing Lennon and Townsend as two of the attacking four in the group stages against Partizan and Besiktas are going to cause us huge problems. They don't have the end product to create clear cut chances or score goals, which is why I'm actually a bit worried about how we'll progress in Europa if Pochettino insists on keeping Lamela, Eriksen, and Chadli on the bench for these games.

We can bring Lamela and Eriksen into it in home games and when we need it after 2/3 games. Townsend and Lennon still should be good enough to be better than Belgrad.

Do me a fucking favour. Whilst they may not considered great players, they are more than good enough for the Europa FFS. Of course people use stats to make Lamela, Eriksen and Chadli seem top draw but hold the fuck up, none of them have consistently great through their spurs career.

How about we fucking support the players and wait till fucking January before we give them abuse and at least give them the opportunity to prove us wrong FFS.

Fucking hell. We nearly got through Europa, with Townsend, Carroll, Falque and Kane Starting and none of them were proven championship players. When these players play well in europe, oh it was against a two bob club, it doesnt count.

Meanwhile in the U21 some of us think that they should make the team, despite them being very good, its also good to tell them they are shit early.

Anyway my team:
Kane

Lennon ---- Paulinho ---- Townsend

Stambouli --- Mason

Davies -- Fazio -- Chiriches -- Naughton

Vorm

If that team isn't good enough then sack the scouts and the youth team!

Chadli, Eriksen, and Lamela are far better attacking football players than Lennon and Townsend. You don't need statistics to see that. But if you did look at statistics and the historical work product of the respective players, it would be obvious that there is a huge drop off in quality between those two sets of squad members.

In Pochettino's system, where he employs two ball recyclers in the middle of the park, you need a fluid top 4 who can all score goals and create chances. I don't believe the team above will create enough chances against teams who are significantly better (especially at home) than you are giving them create for (namely Besiktas and Partizan).

But we'll see Thursday night if you're right about the quality of the Europa group stage competition.

On a separate note, I'm one of Paulinho's biggest advocates here, and I'm hopeful he'll be hungry to show Poch how he's made a mistake leaving him out of the match day squad for EPL games.

I am not particularly impressed by either Lennon or Townsend at the moment, but for there to be 'huge gulf' I would need to be much more impressed by Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela than I have been to date.

Also I think you underestimate what a potent weapon pace can be. There will be occasions when Aaron or Andros will cause problems to defences who would be quite happy for us to pass the ball around in front of them.

Based on their spurs career so far that doesnt make them great players or even good. They need to find consistency still and Lamela, (A player I like alot) hasn't covered himself in glory as of yet neither the other two. Eriksen had a great second half of the season but alot of that was down to his set pieces.

Im not discounting the european teams but we only need to get about 9 points from the group to go through, these players are good enough to do that.

Also BTW Townsend played in a fluid front 4 under ramsey which had almost 2 no.10's. I know he can play in that system and Lennon is good enough against these teams.
