I've been meaning to say all week, but Ndombele immediately picking up an injury was pretty much a nailed on certainty.

Guy clearly struggling with the intensity in pre-season, whether the training at Lyon is well below our standards, he didn't look after himself over the summer, or both, it looked a massive culture shock and he struggled to play at any prolonged spell of intensity and was often cooked after 15-20 minutes of a half. He also had to be excused from one of the back to back games, the only one in the squad to do that, because he was obviously not in the condition to do it.

A training injury was pretty inevitable as his body adapts to what is now being asked of him, not sure pitching him into PL games and doing 90 minutes from the off was a smart strategy either to be quite honest.... But too late now.

But he did have a Pochettinho pre season so to pick him for games I can't see a problem. Just bad luck.

He was about to be taken off against Villa and then smashed it in didn't he:LOL:

For whatever reason the standard and demand of training day in, day out looks a huge step up for him, given the evidence of his pre-season outings. That's going to be causing huge stress and fatigue on his body as he plays catch up, and then we pitch him in to PL matches for 90 mins where the intensity and demands only go up on top of that. I don't think that's bad luck, huge chance of someone breaking down.

This is why previous players say that it takes around 6 months to get used to Poch's methods.

True, but I think that’s less about fitness per se, and more about the mental aspects of learning to stand still for so long, and the upper body flexibility required to keep your thumb up your arse for extended periods.

I have a horrible horrible feeling about Sunday. Arsenal will unleash all their new signings and they’ll rip us a new one. All our new signings will be injured or on the bench...and we will lose.

Can see the media waxing lyrical about the goons performance all of next week.

Thankfully there’s an international break to distract us !

When was the last time we played a big match with our best team available? Fucking hell, every time we plays these muppets we have important (game changing) players out. Something has to change with our training regime because we can't be losing core players this frequently and then still be competing across multiple comps, at least not this early in the season. Our performances are already dreadful enough without it

If we don't take anything out off how Liverpool dealt with this lot then we in for a touch time.

Here's my prediction for the weekend: we'll get tanked and the writing will be on the wall for poch - mark my words!

Performance much more important than the result for me this time, even though it's a NLD. Arsenal won't have banks of defenders a la Newcastle; they'll be going for it, and they ain't City! They'll be leaving plenty of openings for us if we have the wherewithal to take advantage.

Just hope we show more cohesion, energy, movement and desire in our play than we have done. That'll at least show the team's moving in the right direction. That's what we need right now; a committed and competitive team performance against Arsenal on Sunday. Everything else re speculation on Poch's and players' futures etc., is all pointless noise till we get actual news.
