What type of player is Kovacic?
He's got a dreamy touch and a change of direction. However has struggled to put his full game together some of the times I saw him at Inter. Haven't seen much of him at Real. Certainly someone who could offer us some creativity in the middle of the park though.

Is he better than Brozovic? He sounds similar to Tielemans

He would be awesome - we've got a Kovacic-like player in Harry Winks though from what I've seen of them both.

Where has this myth regarding Kane being able to play no10 come from?

Why would you want to move one of the best strikers in the Prem and a player who is ready made for our system in order to accommodate a player who isn't necessarily a right fit our system?

Such a Chelsea thing to do lol
I don't think its a myth considering he has spent most his life playing in that position. Perhaps the no.10 role is wrong but he has spent most of his professional career playing as a deep striker

So a deep striker not a no10 then...

Yea but what is a no10?

If on a team sheet he would playing more than being the no.9 thats for certain. However how he would play that role would be different from someone like Modric who would be listed the same way

People list a no10 and yet mean many different things

Bergkamp
Sherringham
Keane
Eriksen
VDV
Modric
Bale

All are different in their own way

Lets not forget he also played CM in the championship for millwall and for the youth team(occasionally)

He has spent most of his career playing in 2 man strike force

Saying Kane can play as a no10 and excel in that position is just like saying Bale can still play left back just because he used to play there. Times have changed, players mature and find their positions and Kane has now found his position.

For the benefit and context of thus argument though do you think Kane and the team would benefit as a deeper striker if Lukaku was played as the striker ahead of him?

To certain extent he hasnt changed that much, if anything he has become more greedy as he use to link more up a lot more and play players in as well as getting goals but I still see the same guy in the way he plays as he was back then

I think he could do it easily, Lukaku wont happen but someone like Lacazette would suit him. Worth noting he has also played in a 2 with Berahino and Berahino leading the line with Kane playing off him for the england U21's(though that did change in the U21 euros)

Pochettino also played a 442 at southampton and can Kane do the role Lambert or Osvaldo did? Clearly yes

I expect us to go more 442 next season if Im being honest but against smaller teams. Could make a good argument we have done that at times this season with Alli playing up front off Kane

I'm surprised more people aren't excited about that Kovacic link. He's a super talent who Madrid bought to groom into Modric's heir. He hasn't settled in that environment, but he'd be an absolute coup for us. Great passing range, great right foot, good workrate. Can play deep lying playmaker or box to box role, so you can slot him next to Dier or Dembele in a two. Given that It's AS reporting it, I think it probably has some legs.

I think some people (like myself) are wary of the press throwing bullshit around, plus it's a rumoured loan. So probably a non-starter and not terribly exciting. Then you could have the real pessimists who think Real are trying to sweeten us up to go for Kane, Alli, etc. Later.

Anybody think we could prize Borja Baston away from Athletico Madrod? Only 23 so should be mouldable for our system, big strong boy, great season on loan at Eibar and would be a direct Kane replacement.

For the people wondering, here is some information about what kind of player Kovacic is and both his strengths and weaknesses.
In a way he would be a natural heir to Dembele with his ball carrying abilities and while he is nowhere near as strong physically he is actually pretty good in defense positionally and with his work rate. His main strength is in the attack though as he has way more end product than Dembele.

In the continent the no 10 is seen as the play maker and most advanced of the CMF. Neither Bergkamp, Sheri, Keane, Modric nor Bale fall into that category although some have played in that role during some games.

There have been a lot of links for both Gladbach midfielders Dahoud and Xhaka. Personally I can't see them selling both and it will likely be Xhaka as he can bring in the biggest price, especially if he has a decent Euros.
