guardiola doesnt rate him. he wants to prove that he bought Busquets from the cantera and that he is his player, he found him and moulded him into a Spainsh international. Myself and all of the guys from our penya dont understand this either. cant think anything has happened in terms of a bust up, yaya ia supposed to be a really nice guy.

Yaya would fit perfectly with Huddlestone or Modric.

sod city they have a new manager every 5 minutes, dont have champions league football, the only players will go there are ones likes Barry or tevez for the money. The ones like Messi,Kaka etc that want to win things will never go there

Is it true that Barca are going to let Yaya Toure go? If so I am sure there would be bigger fish than us after him, but I am surprised, always though he was one of the bedrocks of their success, providing the muscle and bite to allow Xavi and Iniesta to play.

Keita has played better this year and rightly won the place.. also bushcettes is a tall lad and beginning to fill out and is a much better passer than yaya or Keita. .. the Toure brothers seem to peak early and fade fast (unless they’ve messed about with passports)

Yeah this is what I heard. Surprising, always rated him, keeps things simple and knows what his job is: win the ball, give it to Xavi.

As I say, bigger fish, with bigger pockets than us will be after him. Also he would block Sandro's development, which is something I am excited about.

Harry will ALWAYS favour players he has worked with rather than untried talent. At the very least, he likes some evidence that they can perform in the Premier League. I'd give far more weight to the Joe Cole, Carrick, Diarra and Muntari rumours than any others.

Diego an improvement on what we have? Hang on a second while I laugh until my adams apple bursts.

The guy has ability, but nothing to back it up. Nothing physically impressive, no work rate, and questionable attitude. Such negatives are tolerable if the player is as supremely gifted as a Riquelme or Ronaldinho, but Diego is certainly not in that category. I wouldn't touch him and how he's made the top 100 on that list is beyond me. He's not even up to the pace of serie A, never mind the premiership. He belongs somewhere that doesn't demand much than the odd crowd pleasing moment, maybe the Cypriot league or somewhere in the middle East.

At the risk of being a pompous ass, can people please read the excellent thread here

http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=60127

before posting their suggestions? At least two people have suggested squads of more than 25 players, while others are seriously underplaying the importance people like Jenas may have in maintaining our "homegrown" quota.

In addition, I'm not sure where one or two have got the idea of a 30M war chest from. Has anything specific been mentioned? We were sell-to-buy before we bought Sandro and until we actually get into the Champions League I don't see what's changed. If anything, some contract clauses have probably just kicked in which may suck up some more money.

Not wanting to be a party pooper, but our squad is pretty damn good as it is and there is some bonkers fantasy stuff going on.

Ship 'em all out. They're not good enough for the Champions League. Let's buy Man City's squad.

If I work on the assumption that both Pav and Keane are to go (HR dont rate them) and Eidur's loan is not extended, we will need 2 strikers. Which 2 strikers is the difficult bit as how many quick top notch goal scorers + deep lying link up stikers who score a few too are there out there?

Lets be realistic in what strikers we could attract/get. Dzeko would be perfect but we aint got a hope in hells chance of getting him. Falcao looks good in Portugal but would he be any good in the PL? Vucinic maybe worth a sniff from Roma, we have been linked with him before. Kiessling at Leverkusen is another who's doing well. Suarez looks a class act in Holland but so did Kezman, that's my worry. Gignac maybe worth a look at Toulouse. If i'm honest it may not be such a bad thing if we went for the loan option. Someone like Bojan or Keirrison from Barca, Berbatov from Utd, etc..... We could do alot worse!

p.s. a stop gap signing like Trezeguet might be worth a look too.

We will also need another CM if as expected O'Hara and JJ leave. L.Diarra (my choice), Van der Vaart or Muntari would be ideal! M.Petrov on a free from City would be a fantastic signing and option to have for LM. I think we wont be able to afford J.Cole due to his wages sadly.

Depending on Woodgate we may need a CD. if I work on the assumption that Hutton will be sold and Woody is still a while away from fitness then the rumours linking M.Richards to us could well be true and happen. He would cover both Charlie and Woody/King.

Finally we will need a back up GK. A quality young un would be nice who could then learn off Gomes.

Oh really, so you rate Jenas and Huddlestone above Diego. Fair enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Loach, Diarra, (maybe Gudjohsen) and Gomez would be absolutely amazing.

Letting O'Hara, Jenas, Taarabt, Hutton, Keane go. While loaning out some of promising youngsters like Walker, Naughton, Bostock, Parrett, Rose.

Oh yeah. We're currently at 15/27 and I would think that Woody won't be given a squad spot and O'Hara and Bentley will be off. That means 12/24. If Keane goes that's one less HGP.

Bale won't count against either number next year.

Having 11 if Keane goes, means that we don't need HGP's and can still add two more before shuffling others off. So if Jenas left, we could still replace with a non-HGP.

It will be a bit more complicated though, and might negate my Altintop rather than Cole argument.

Given that Huddlestone is ball playing defensive midfielder, and Diego is an advanced playmaker who needs a free role, then yes I think Huddlestone is a far better ball playing defensive midfielder than Diego.

As for Jenas, all of my 'squad for next year' posts have indicated that I don't see Jenas still being at the club and I think he has become excess to requirements.

However, Modric, Lennon, Bale, Kranjcar and Bentley are all, like Diego, tippy tappy, creative types who spend most of their time adding the flair that players like Huddlestone, Palacios and soon Sandro provide the basis for with their solidity, and I believe all 5 of those players are superior to Diego. I will be delighted to not touch our midfield, other than the inevitabe sales of Jenas, Taarabt, Giovani and O'Hara, and have a midfield squad next year of:

RW Lennon Bentley
LW Bale Kranjcar
CM Modric Huddlestone Palacios Sandro

further complemented that we have three defenders in King, Corluka and Kaboul who can fill in in central midfield, an extra winger for either side in Danny Rose, and the possibility of one of our very talented young midfielders making a break through.

Like I said, my squad for next year:

Gomes
New#2Goalie
Kaboul Dawson King Ekotto
Corluka Woodgate Bassong YoungLB
Lennon Huddlestone Modric Bale
Bentley Sandro Palacios Kranjcar
Defoe New#9
Pavlychenko Crouch

With Button (Goalie), Naughton (versatile full back) and Rose (versatile winger) as making us up to 25, giving us at least 12 homegrowns in the squad.

I think going by what was said and what happened in January and the current climate we'll see a lot more players coming and going on season long loans for pretty high fees than outright purchases not just at Spurs but across world football with maybe Real Madrid and Man City being the exceptions, I can see teams wanting/needing to loan players in order to boot their homegrown numbers for example.

So people saying sell Jenas for 8 mil i think you could say Season loan fee 4 mil + players wages (figures and player are just an example)

THFC would still own the asset at the end of the season, 4 mil in the kitty and player wages are trimmed/used elsewhere.

I cold of course be talking horse shite

Gignac is another good shout. His price will have come down this season he hasn't scored that many, but he's a quality link man, a bit Sheringham actually but more beefy. And he could score a lot with Bale crossing...
