I guess there has to be some logic to it but I’d love to know what. Could it be that training with the seniors all week and then playing an U23 would just undo all the good work. Maybe they like to get patterns of play as set in stone and playing U23 football will just confuse that. I have no idea.

Very good point. How would he not benefit from it? Instead he may or may not go as 19th man on Sunday and that's about that.

With all the injuries and uncertainly we have at the moment, both players have a really good chance to be in the 18 on Sunday. Probably saving them for that. Serge, Eriksen, and Wanyama might very well be leaving and I wouldnt be surprised if there left out of the 18 due to that.

first 25-30 mins was genuinely the best i've seen our u23s play in about five years, chelsea came back into it after that but before then they weren't getting anywhere near us.
