This is a tough game, players coming back from Internationals.

We need to get that first goal as early as possible.

[people who think their "prediction" affects the result]

Some of them are professionals, grownups, people with partners and children.

They think what they write about the match on a forum has an effect on future events. They really do.
Chaos theory innit.
Its a fact our results depend on which shirt I wear.
My new Bale shirt for example has got us 13 goals in 2 games. I expect that to be 18 at least by 6pm :)
You're welcome.

Probably same folk that think changing their avatar on a footy website to a prospective player will have some impact on same player signing , and we now how that worked out!

Given that most of the players on the pitch will probably be wearing lucky pants, having stirred their morning coffee anti-clockwise and shut the front door 7 times on the way to the match.

I'm super nervous about this game, also because with Bale now in the picture I'm so desperate for us to win and for him to succeed that I'm even more worried about falling short.

Let's hope we pick up where we left off before the break. Lots to be excited about, should be a good game especially if Wet Spam think they have more of a chance to normal and give us space to play.

With the squad we have any passengers won't last long in the side which can only raise the game for all.

Like the free programme for members being made available online, a nice touch.

Others have already observed that West Ham are going to set up deep and aim to counter. Although we have been prolific in creating chances and goals, we have only played one team in the league so far this season who did that - Newcastle. We created chances against them, too, but their goalkeeper had a day to remember and the chances were different in nature from the ones against Southampton and Man Utd (and Maccabi Haifa), where we were routinely getting behind their defence.

It's going to be crowded in and around the penalty area and some alert, quick, precise passing is going to be needed to fashion chances. If we create 20+ chances, but half of them bounce off a defender and the other half are saved, it's going to be Newcastle revisited, because West Ham have been countering with pace and precision. Antonio has become a very effective, powerful focus for their attack. His movement has improved greatly and he'll give our defenders an enervating 90 minutes.

So the main challenges here are to see if our attacking riches can be prolific against a side that packs the defence and if our midfield and defence can get into position swiftly and reliably enough to stop their counters. We're going to play a number of sides that adopt these tactics and we need to learn to overcome them if is we're ever going to win anything. Mobility and precision are required.
This, and also to make best use of our own wing backs. We need to get behind their defence and the engage in quick and slick passing that pulls their midfield and particularly their defenders out of position.
Our front three have got to resist the temptation of being too selfish. If a teammate it better placed slip them in with slide rule passes for a tap in we have players in space rather that going for glory from tight angles that usually find the side netting or are a foot wide of the posts.

If we do what we often do against them by spending too much time making slow sideways passes in the last third, and then try to thread the ball through the eye of a needle they will just pack their defence and rearguard midfield with two banks like brick walls and our last pass will nearly always find a claret and blue shirt and will be a frustrating day and they will hit us on the counter.

Come on Spurs, be quick, decisive and unselfish at the right times, do this and we win the game and by a decent margin.

They beat us when we were fighting for the title but the pressure really beat us and the times they've beaten us since were when we were at a low ebb and that's not where we are now.
We will win today and will go second or third depending on the Villa result.

In 214 meetings, we’ve won 98, so 46%, with 52 draws and 64 West Ham wins. It’s cute that they think they’re in the same stratosphere as us.
