"no bench to react to it"

Another up yours to Ndombele

He’s literally quantified it by saying he was talking about attacking players.

Stop hearing what you want to hear.

I assume you’ve been as vocal about Jose’s public support for Ndombele this week?

Jose liked our control?

I really thought we were really comfortable it was just a very negative game plan. We weren’t really troubled by Man U apart from the Lloris wonder save in the second half. Then Pogba does a great bit of skill to beat Dier then goes down like a he’s 5 stone after a touch from Dier. After their pen, I thought we were the better team. I will point out that I’ve had a few ciders though.

God the histrionics in here make Twitter look rational sometimes.

Most of us thought we were going to lose tonight.

We didn’t. We would have won if not for gash refereeing and Paul Pogba.

It’s our first game in three months, being a bit rusty is expected.

Jose does not hate Ndombele, get over your obsession with him being a panto villain, this isn’t a fucking Disney film.

Onwards and upwards.

Goodnight weirdos.
Keano “if you class Tottenham as a big club.” Ouch.
Keane had clearly forgotten to take his meds tonight. Said he'd punch de Gea after his first half performance.

Great player, arsehole pundit.

Jose interviews very well. Agree with him on a lot of those points about the pens etc.

Have a query over the option of using Sessengon as a attacking replacement, maybe he sees him as only a lb?

The lack of striking options is highlighted again with our bench.

His positioning was not even good for many games this season, wide players couldn't pass to him. He wasn't so participative in the attack like he used to. And amongst the four attackers in the first half, his effort was the least IMO..
I mean it depends what you mean by movement. A lot of times Kane goes deep to open up spaces for others.

Yes, Kane has changed, and people have to deal with that. He doesn't have the legs anymore to do that, and he plays deeper. But he does a lot of good things and still scores a lot of good goals. But you can't expect him to go chasing everything anymore. His peak is probably over, but he is still far and away our best player (I mean along with Son).

What shows effort to you. Players are given a plan, and idea of what they are meant to do, I suspect Kane is told not to go chasing players, because Jose isn't super press and we have quicker players who can press quicker.

Players are not allowed to track men, they have to stay in this rigid system under cast iron shackles, there is no element of flexibility under this regime of Jose, so as much as i understand your point , the player is defo not fully to blame
I'm pretty confident that players have to track men under mou, do you remember Herrera on Hazard? Not that n'dom would perform that role, but he needs to do the basics. No competing team can have any passengers.

Agree, who grabbed who first.. It was Pogba who initiated contact by clawing at Dier shoulder..

Exactly! I thought it would be a classic Salah "hand on shoulder drag back and fall" pen - but it's Pogba who initiates that contact.

Absolutely baffled how anyone - let alone Spurs fans - could think that's anything other than a very very soft decision.

Feel bad for Dier who saved us over and over and defended that as well as he could imo.

Means no attackers on bench

Sessegnon could have played, Tanguy could have played as a 10... seriously... if we would have Parrott fit on the bench he would not have used him.

Thats all maybe not the prime options to have, but still fresh legs and lets be honest...the problem is the shape...not the missing attacking subs.

Mourinho is right though. Losing Lucas Yesterday, as I said earlier, was a massive kick in the nuts. We had no attack to change.

I'm not having that, what was needed was for us to find some bollocks and push up the pitch and engage them at the halfway line again and to find fresh legs for the counter attack - admittedly not with the same quality but the space was there to run into with United pushing on and a lack of pace at the back, and from there who knows what can happen.

We could of made changes to get a line up of something like Winks and Skipp in the centre of the park sitting, Sissoko pushed to the right in front of Aurier, Sessegnon on the left, Gedson and Lamela (for as long as he could, then go to Lo Celso) being the attackers through the middle. That would have been a unit capable of all getting in behind the ball, but also plenty of people with the ability to get forward - maybe not with the quality with the ball at their feet but decent off the ball running options to be there to support a break.

To do nothing wasn't good enough for me.

Bearing in mind that the football at end of the Poch era had become dull and predictable (whilst certainly not knocking all he'd done in previous seasons) and that was probably due in no small part to being unable to bring in the players that he really wanted and now Jose is probably in a similar situation (although he must have known that this would be the situation so it's not an excuse), can we realistically expect decent football and to be challenging near the top or does something have to give? We all know that Poch worked wonders with what he had but in the end even be couldn't do it forever. I'm not trying to start one of those tedious pro v anti ENIC debates - I'm neither a huge advocate for ENIC not a huge critic but what is realistic to expect at this point? Is it better to have decent football above all else or sacrifice it for challenging with the top 5?

VAR looked at the first pen for quite some time (because it was so soft) but they can't over-turn it because it's just incredibly soft NOT a clear and obvious error.

Not sure why Bruno wasn't carded for an obvious dive. Does VAR give that kind of advice? @MK Yid ?

VAR would not give that advice, would only advise for red card offence.
It obviously wasn't a penalty (the VAR reveiwed pen, thought first pen was clear), but in my view cannot be a booking anyway, as contact, albeit minimal was made by second foot of Dier

No team can have passengers and especially us atm, Players have to be in certain formation and or shape at all times under Jose regardless of whats happening on the pitch, its what he demands. Yes Ndoms would never perform that rle, but that herra game was a specific tactic employed by Jose purposely for that game only, hence he had permission from Jose, thats a one of case that Jose might apply, but he doesnt do that every match

There was nothing wrong with the system we played today. Lamela, whilst he played well enough, was so, so wasteful in the final third. Put Lo Celso or Ndombele there and it’s a different story. Likewise, if Kane actually bothered to play today, I honestly think we would’ve been 2/3-0 up in this match. We looked comfortable for a large chunk of the game.
