The majority of their players emerged from their own youth system. They subsequently became the very best in the world, and they were rewarded at a level comparable to the top earners in the profession.

If that's buying success, there is no success that does not come bought.

Exactly my point. Big IF that Chelski bring through any young players of that quality of Barca any way. Ajax produced a generation of youth which included Seedorf, Kluivert, Reizeger, Davids etc, they certainly didn't have mass TV money. Real Madrid on the other hand have produced very few and are more guilty of having an unfair advantage in Spain as they are basically bank rolled by the Spanish government as well as the TV revenue. Every club buys success I don't know why Barca are being singled out.

This is why I dont rate Barcelonas greatness.

Our TV money is shared equally. If Manchester United got greedy and negotiated their own tv deal they would blow the Spanish teams out of the water.

Barcelona are 500m in debt, Madrid the same. Their TV deals run into the hundreds of millions when the other Spanish sides get around 5m each.

Judging by the face on Platini last night I dont think he is an admirer either.

got any sources to back up your claims?

On the table there is a facilities column does anyone know what this is?

http://www.premierleague.com/page/Headlines/0,,12306~2366164,00.html

"The Founder Members' Agreement of the Premier League sees 50 per cent of UK broadcast revenue split equally between the 20 clubs, 25 per cent paid in Merit Payments (depending on where a club finishes in the final League table) and the final 25 per cent paid in Facility Fees each time a club's matches appear on TV in the UK during the season. All international broadcast revenue is split equally amongst the 20 clubs."

Weren't the average age 23 of the team that beat United? Maybe the commentators got it wrong

I don't think Barca should buy for a few years if it's possible. If they're at that age and continue to play well, they could easily clear the debt in a few years with more titles/cups/champions league wins

Not sure they were being singled just that someone said they didn't buy success which brought the responses, Ajax brought through the youngsters but it could be said that as they didn't have the financial advantages Barca have they had to sell their young diamonds.

Must be older than that, Messi is 23, isn't he the youngest, be intersting to see what happens when the current youngsters don't get games though and where they go.

Facility Fees:

1.Manure 13.621m
2.Bindippers 12.099m
3.Arse 11.616m
4.Chavs 11.616m
5.City 10.167m
6.Spurs 9.201m
7.Newcastle 8.718m
8.Villa 8.235m
9.West Ham 7.752m
10.Everton 7.269m

Anyone know how the number of times a team is shown on Sky is determined?

Liverpool seem to have done rather well despite the fact that they had a very poor season. I can understand it to some degree if it's based on fan base and view demand. If however that were the case, how do City and West Ham do so well? Neither have a particularly large fan base. City earned nearly £1m more than us. What is going on?

Man City challenging at the top right to the end, West Ham in a relegation struggle through the season so maybe more interest but still doesn't explain Liverpool who have been mid table mediocre all season, maybe it's just a manifestation of the Sky four mentality.

Popularity and support.

Seems to be a minimum of 10 games for smallest teams and a top of 26 for Utd.

West ham are similar in size to Villa and Everton in support. London is huge and they own a large chunk of it.

City on tv is quite obvious, big name players.

Liverpool are still the 2nd biggest club in the league going by number of supporters.

So yeah, this thread's going well......

If I was a mod I'd be in here waving my mod stick and telling people that they must have got the shift and 8 key stuck.

Can we stop discussing Barca now? I thought it was Spurs Chat....

Yes, willys have been waved and wrists slapped, and thankfully Omar didn't try to sodomise anybody.

Anything to add, seeing as yours is the most meaningless post in this thread?
