Was it ever clarified whether or not he could be signed under our quota of non-home grown players?

Is there a deadline for free agents to sign, or is it pretty much open season long?

Can Ceballos be swaped? It would be harsh on the lad but if he's not going to play much they might do that if it's possible.

Can Championship clubs still loan players from us at this stage? If so Ceballos on loan and this guy in, if Soldado is going to be out for much longer we have to think about it IMHO.

I didn't believe there was a deadline, so long as you have sufficient space to register, and the player became a free agent prior to the end of the transfer window.

Any time a player become a free agent he's free to sign for another club, not matter whether he become a free agent during or after the transfer window closed.

It seems logical that a free agent player can sign at any time, if the club has vacancy in squad numbers to be registered. As no transfer, or fee paid to another club.

If we were to let Ceballos for example go to a Champ club then I think if I am correct then we have only 1 month from the end of the transfer window. That probably will have a baring on this. Can we though lend out a player once registered for the first part of the season? Just thoughts.

Is Ceballos over 21 and no longer a free pick? Excuse my ignorance but if he is younger does he count toward non HG capacity?

We can bring him in any time on a free transfer as he's out of contract, but we can't add him to our squad, even if we let someone like Ceballos go out on loan.

Our homegrown capacity was one of the problems in not getting another striker during the TW. Hence the attempt to borrow Welbeck. We haven't room for non HG players until we shed some. Next summer we will have 3 vacancies Kaboul, BAE and Friedel are all out of contract I believe. We can go for J-Rod in January so maybe that's why we only wanted a loan deal for DW.

BAE is not in neither of Spurs' squads this season so he won't "count" towards either of the quotas anyway.

We can sign a free agent anytime but cant register him outside of the premier league registration window which has now passed and wont be open again till Jan, same as EL. So in theory we can sign him now and he can train but cant play in the prem or EL till jan. Also if cebellos is over 21 then he counts towards foreign quota.

We may not have a Jenas to blame any more, but hey -

We could have a Jonas to blame instead! :sneaky:

Is this guy even still available? Transfermkt says yes, Wiki says he signed for Benfica on a 2 year deal yesterday....

Edit: OK so nothing on Benficas website so probably a teenager getting excited. Let the debate about squad registration and free agents and home growns continue......
