It's going to be the Mourinho show isn't it?
I think it will be quite balanced. Ever since it was leaked that Mourinho told the lads to be bitches and what not in the dressing room in order to win things, the subsequent trailers have been quite Mourinho-centred.

But this season we have gone through too much of upheavals in all sorts of matters, Poch sacked, Covid19, Mourinho engagement etc, I think the whole documentary will be quite well-spread in terms of content. It is also undeniable that Mourinho does have that X-factor to add some spice to the whole show, so slightly more of him is still understandable.

Interesting that all trailers feature Jose nothing on Poch so far

That would be a lot more interesting

We weren't exactly nice in that game at Chelsea though. We were incredibly hot headed and saw a rare lash out from Dembele. If anything we lacked the composure of a team that has won trophies. The pressure got to us but I think Poch brought the fire and fight back to the club.

Jose isn't saying be violent, he's talking about controlled aggression.

We lost our cool against Chelsea due to their controlled aggression. They kicked us and fouled us until we stopped playing football and started fighting. Then they scored 2 goals.

I‘ve a feeling it starts with Poch’s sacking and anything shown before then will be flashbacks in the story of the series and our season.

We're they not filming since the start of the season then?

I always thought it started at the beginning of the season? So either I got it wrong or the club wanted to cut the Poch part out?

Yeah it started at the beginning of the season. I just wouldn’t be surprised if they started it from when Mourinho came as they had so much filmed material.

Thats what I thought but people keep saying that it'll start from when Poch is sacked. Not sure where that is coming from. I just can't see them discarding all that material, unless of course the club have decided to be respectful to Poch.

Yeah I think the first episode will start with the Poch sacking but that it will be explained by matches and goals in a flashback. Basically showing how shit we were and what happened to get to the point he was sacked and why it happened. Then the rest of the episodes will all be the time after that. All Mourinho’s time. Just a guess.

You think we were nice guys under Poch? We were one of the most aggressive and physical teams in the league. At least up until we lost Wanyama and Dembele at the heart of it. People hated playing against us. I don't know why people think we must always be soft just because we had a soft center for a number of years. We're not destined to be that way with every team. We certainly weren't under Poch. We just need to rediscover that again under Mourinho and not lose our discipline like in 2016.

there is a difference between being hard to play against and being masters of the ****y arts. we would press hard and snap into challenges -but did we commit those tactical fouls and subtly wind up opponents? That match was not intelligent dark arts stuff it was kick people up in the air like 70s Leeds.

IMO it starts from the top, and Poch was one who would always play nice to the media and referee, being mellow about things. It breeds into the players, and they were all really nice for 5 years. It just oozed a gentlemen air throughout the whole squad. Even my wife could sense the difference in demeanour between Poch's team and Mourinho's team.

Quite. We completely lost control and stopped actually playing the game.

It's 9 episodes. I'd be shocked if they cut out almost a third of the season.

probably part of Poch severance, his team probably wanted it cut to avoid impacting future employment Etc. Especially if Poch was against the whole thing in the first place

I think it will all start with grand optimism for the season despite us losing the CL final, especially signing Tanguy and GLC. The climax will build quickly until Poch starting to lose games and slowly the dressing room became unsettled. The lowest point being him getting the sack.

This will allow the crest of renew optimism to be built again with Mourinho coming in and winning his first few matches. That will bring us another climax before all the injuries forced him with some difficulties and criticism.

Then the Covid19 shutdown. Doomsday. Then involvement with NHS brought back the warmth. Football restart blah blah blah.

My take of the chapters as a practioner in the media industry.

That match was not how we generally played under Poch though so not a reflection of the team. It was a one off game where we had a big gap to try and close on Leicester (a gap I don't think we were ever going to close anyway). We totally lost control in that game but I don't agree with the suggestion of not being tough enough or being too nice. The idea of tactical fouls etc and the sort of antics Drogba did with Chelsea is something different for sure. You can be tough mentally and physically without playing that way though and I think we did that under Poch. I also love that we were tough without being dirty with it. We still had the most successful seasons in the Premier League playing that way.

Just because we didn't win trophies it doesn't mean we weren't tough enough or need to become arseholes (Man City and Liverpool certainly aren't). Arsenal are by no means tough these days (nothing like the old Wenger side) and yet they still win the FA Cup because they've won trophies regularly for a number of years. We need to manage these crucial games better tactically to get over the line and win things. I don't think we need to be c***s to do so but we do need to get back that intensity from a couple of years ago.
