CL football last season was worth £30 million but what Sherwood did was take Harry Kane with a net value of £2 million and turned him into a £15 million player which is +13 into the balance books and Kane's growth hasn't stopped yet.

He also turned Nabil Bentaleb from a £2 million reserve player to a £10 million central midfielder which means +8 into the books and Bentaleb is only going to get better.

Which allows us to sell squad midfielders like Holtby, Dembele and Paulinho which should raise a minimum of £20 million.

+13 + +8 + 20 = £41 million - £900,000 Sherwood pay off equals £40 million net.

I'm sure this makes sense to you but I'm afraid I just can't keep up. I really can't see how you can justify Tim turning Kane into a £15m player. What is this logic based on?

It's based on the logic that Sherwood being brave enough to give Kane and Bentaleb a run in the side; Bentaleb got torn apart by City in the 1-5 but in that game, he probably learned the most... Sherwood picked up a lot of criticism for it.

I'm struggling with comprehending the very reason behind this post in the first place, but carry on....

I think the price estimates are widely exaggerated. I'd reckon 6-8M for each of Kane & Bentaleb, MAYBE 9 on average. Then, we must remember the fierce price declines for several players, Paulinho & Soldado both must have decreased at least 7M EACH (but I suppose that can't possibly be Sherwoods fault, let's count only the +). ERGO, 7 + 7 - 7 -7 = 0. :wtf:

I hear that Levy used to motivate Sherwood by promising that Sherwood would be the next manager at RM if he put in a good performance.

So by the same logic AVB turned Bale from a 30million pound player to a 88 million pound player - Champions League twice over.

...which is no logic whatsoever

The thread title is silly, making money and playing in the CL are not the same thing.

But Sherwood does deserve tons of credit for Kane and Bentaleb, and they are worth a lot of money now.

You've got to be kidding. Young English striker scoring goals for fun? In today's market? £30m easy. Not that we'd sell, even for that.
