The rule unequivocally does not allow for common sense. If the ball hits an attacking player's hand in the build up, the goal does not stand. Period.Two things though.

Now I know, handball is handball but a bit of common sense needs to apply in these situations.
The problem is the refs follow the law to it's strictest form which takes away any human judgement and then they end up just trying to apply the law even if it doesn't exist in a complete manner.
