Man, Jake Livermore must have slept with some important people to be getting the ratings i'm seeing here. He makes stuart nethercott look like franco baresi.

Pienaar MOM.

Would love to see Kranjcar become an option to replace VdV rather than it always being Defoe.

Cudicini, 6 - couple of important saves but generally little to do

BAE, 6 - Did ok as RB rather than as LB with few defensive duties and seemed to enjoy a right wing type role as a change

Kaboul 7 , - Lion at the back, organised the defence

Livermore 6.5 Accomplished performance by the central midflield player in a Centre Back position, although maybe lucky to avoid a red card. IMO possibly the most improved player over last year.

Rose, 6 – Looked ok as an attacking left back, not really tested defensively

Townsend, 7.5 – Possibly MOTM, started on right wing but scored a great goal with his right foot from the left wing position, and almost got a second before creating Defoe’s goal. Delighted to be played in one of his better positions rather than as left back as in most of Spurs Europa League appearances. Deserves a bench position in remaining December games before (hopefully) a Premiership loan

Kranjcar, 7 – Looked very good for the first hour but faded badly after that – on the first hour performance he could have been a contender for MOTM . Needs more game time to return to his best.

Sandro, 6.5 – Helped Spurs dominate central midfield, hit the post with a shot and generally good performance but imo still away to go to get to the great performances he achieved last season.

Pienaar, 6 - Looked very good for a 20 minutes period and scored a goal, but still a long way to go to get back to his form at Everton, however one of his best Spurs performances to date

Gio, 3 – A few good touches playing in one of his best positions but totally petered out by start of second half. Will this be his last performance in a Spurs shirt ?

Defoe, 6 – Tried hard and got his goal, although fans might have hoped for more than one. Surprised he was subbed when Gio was the more obvious choice

Subs - Not on Long Enough to mark

Kane – Got his goal and several good touches in this 15 minute cameo role, demonstrating why this 18 year old has good potential

Falque – Showed more good touches and hit the post in his 5 minutes than Gio achieved in the 90 minutes.

Thought the standouts were, Pienaar and Livermore.
don't rate Andros (forest) Townsend at all, don't get me wrong great goal, but far too head down and GO!

Livermore although very composed took far too many liberties and got lucky with the juggling moment let alone the 'sending off'

As suspected Sandro has been well and truly (not) played out of form. Needs much more game time in the coming weeks.

Hate Benni on the right, he spends most of the game running at a 90 degree angle to everyone else and before you know it finds himself on the left.

How about in some games from now on, not only switching the rw/lw over but switching Bale and Ekotto round, Ekotto actually looks pretty composed when he gets forward, wish he would/could do it more often.

Valencia did this to go great effect against Barcelona this season, Jordi Alba and Jeremy Mathieu swapped repeatedly.

It worked for about an hour until Guardiola finally changed the formation.

Sandro hasn't been fit though to be fair to Harry.

Was at the match and paid close attention to Pienaar and Townsend. Pienaar was by far the man of the match.

There were quite a few occasions when Townsend should have move forward infield to make himself available for a pass but it was fristrating to watch him hug the touchline fro so much of the game, especially the first half. Great goal though.

Pienaar was everywhere and was getting stick from the crowd the whole match. Took quite a few tackles in the game and kept getting up and getting on with it. Best game I've seen from him in a spurs shirt.
