Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain
said they had received "no formal offer" for Eto'o.
He added: "We hope that he arrives at an agreement with a club that he likes and negotiates with that club."

we would not like to find ourselves with four centre-forwards. His exit affects the arrival of another striker," Begiristain was quoted as saying in Spanish newspaper Sport.
Barca president Joan Laporta added: "We have a very good relationship with Eto'o and his representative. We will do our best for the club and the player."

SO it seems pretty clear Eto'o is not wanted at Barca......

is it just possible, all this paper talk on Berbs and Man U, is a Man U smoke screen on them getting Eto'o..and Barca are pushing Man U's Hand? (the Qoutes come from Helbs unveiling Wednesday)

It just seems really unlikely that no-one has bid for a player of Eto'o standard

Not really, how many teams need him that can afford to pay his wages? If they need him, do they rate him for his wages? Dude is expensive to pay on the weekly basis.

It would really depend on how much the fee was( fee + salary = budget)...and i can think of at least half a dozen...Untied been 1 of them

Eto'o was one of the best two years ago, maybe he still can be amongst the best. But he suffered from bad injuries, lost some pace, has a big ego, is expensive and wants big wages. All this makes him a risky investment. The fact Wenger doesn't seem to want to swap him for Adebayor is instructive.

I would have thought Liverpool would go for him. If their looking at Keane for around £20m then they might aswell look to sign Eto'o (considering Ronaldinho went for less.) Similar age but proven world class with league winners medals and a Champions League medal. He'd be a better strike partner for Torres aswell, and has pace to burn.

For me Eto'o and Torres are more similar than Torres and Keane. Keane would be better at supporting an out and out striker like Torres

I think Eto'o would allow Torres to stay up top, as he likes to drift out wide left. That would suit Liverpool, as they dont have a lot of width. They may even play Torres through the middle, Eto'o left and Kuyt right, of a front 3. Similar to what they did with Babel and Kuyt last season. Eto'o has gret workrate aswell and together with Kuyt, they would do their share of ball winning. With Gerrard, Barry and Mascharano in midfield i think they would be sorted.

We could then take Alonso off their hands to help fund the Barry deal. I prefer Alonso to Barry myself so i think we'd benefit from it. They get Barry and Eto'o. We keep Keane and Berbatov, and get Alonso and Bentley. I think we'd match up well to them if that were the case.

He scored something ridiculous like 18 goals in 20 games last season.

he's still the darling of Pumas european advertising campain... i don't think that his wages would be an issue or indeed a total burnden if Eto was to sign for Tottenham and wear a lily white puma made shirt sporting the no.9 (or 10)
