Seems to want to play in narrow pockets a lot rather than hold the width from what I've seen, a bit like Soule.

We should be going for players who are comfortable holding the width and excel at 1v1s going both inside and outside their fullback.

Bardghji looks like he'd suit playing more as a RAM who drifts inside with an overlapping fullback.

I also like those who are comfortable holding the width and excel at 1v1s going in and out.

What do you mean “wingers”?

If we get him I think he'll be very well suited to the wide role.

He's their most creative player so it's natural they'll use him more centrally.

When he's wider, what I really like is that he takes the ball right up to the full back, keeps it moving from one foot to the other so defenders can't set themselves, then takes him on with feints and dummies on both sides in one fluid movement. He actually accelerates through the dummy where most players pause and take an extra touch to rebalance.

Chris Waddle talks a lot about this in recent interviews. Says he sees players starting their robotic academy coached step overs 5-10 yards away from their opponent. But beating players 1v1 is about being brave, aggressive, and off the cuff. Getting up close with the ball and forcing a decision.

He's an absolute natural at that. A bundle of creative energy and desire to take on players in a way that reaps the most rewards in dangerous areas. Low blocks, beating the high press for counters, the endless decisive 1v1 moments we're creating and not capitalising on.

He needs a lot of work in his defensive game, but creatively he can have a super sub impact now in Ange's system, and with that left foot can be a production machine in the final third.

I call BS on this new ‘data-driven’ recruitment policy.

Looking at the players we have been linked with so far this window, it’s clear as day that our policy is about bringing in players with badass names.

It is a little unusual of an approach, but I’m all for innovation.

Apologies it this has already been mentioned in the mid-window review thread, but I couldn't see it there.

The kid definitely seems open to joining us. Yesterday, Swedish Aftonbladet asked him about joining us and playing alongside Deki and Bergvall in the future, and he far from shut that idea down.

– It's fun to think about. You never know, it could happen. Hard to say now.

Edit: I'll include the entire section about us below.

What do you think about Lucas Bergvall's move to Tottenham?

– I'm happy for him. He's an incredibly nice guy. I hope he gets everything he wants. It will be fun to catch up next time we meet with the national team.

Are you surprised that he didn't choose Barcelona?

– I don't have enough details. It's hard to know what Barcelona have said or offered. I think it seems okay, it's his choice. He knows what felt best and where he will thrive.

So, we'll get to see Swedish trio Dejan Kulusevski, Bergvall, and Bardghji at Tottenham in the future...?

If POK is right and our interest in Neto/Raph is real then I don't see us going for Roony as we seem to be targeting a more established player for that position. If we go for a more established left winger however then it would make more sense.

Yeah agreed. We just have to get Neto 🙏

Would love us to get Neto (much more than Raphinha) but just can't see us getting it done.

Yeah especially as he’s Mendes and cost £60 mil. Wolves might need the money tho… hopefully. Him, Kvara or Nico need to be our top targets come summer. Any one of them would be a massive improvement.

Re Roony, i really like the look of him but he’s probably even more raw than Nusa. Plus point is he would count as HG eventually but I’m not sure if he would really bring much to the table for a few seasons. Lots of potential tho. As a second purchase alongside a more established player it would be an excellent move but if he was our only WF addition I’d be a little underwhelmed. No slight on him as a talent, just doesn’t really upgrade on what we have.

Think we have enough potential. We need the finished article to really take us up a level. If we target two wingers, if we don't sign Werner and sell Solomon, then maybe another prospect is needed.

Agree totally. He would be a perfect signing for us - moreso than Raphinha.

But (1) I think they'll demand a massive fee (2) I can see teams with bigger check books turning up if he becomes available and (3) our ability to attract him would be totally conditional on being in the CL IMO

Too much injuries, and they won’t stop I fear

I posted the link to his injury record and they are not the same recurring problems which suggests he's been unfortunate as opposed to injury prone - he's certainly not a Ryan Sessegnon with chronic persistent problems.

He may have been unlucky with those injuries but the worry is that now he has had those injuries will they be more likely to cause other recurring injuries.

Injuries wouldn't be a concern for me. If we buy him, I'm sure the medical team would do their due diligence to understand if he has underlying issues. IE: Similar to whatever Brentford found with Nusa.

I think we've had some horrible luck with injuries to certain players during their career with Spurs. In recent memory: Lamela, Sess, and Lo Celso all have suffered different types of injuries and never had a run of five or six months being free of niggles.

He's extremely talented with some great attributes but he's still raw and if we were to get him we'd need some patience.
Hyped as one of the best talents we've ever had in Sweden so it'll be very interesting to see how he turns out.

Abba would beg to differ.
