That’s a right footed left back.Ashley Young played left back for ages.
I've had this thought about left-footed right backs before too. I literally can't think of a single one, ever. That’s a right footed left back.
I’m talking about left footed right backs
My guess is that it's to do with the fact that left-footed players are rarer, so there's much less need for a left-footed right-back than a right-footed one. If you're strongest position is full-back and you're left-footed then you're going to be a left-back, if you're right-footed then you might be either depending on what the team you're developing in needs.Agree it’s odd- although not as odd as when we use right footed left backs (when has there been a left footed right back ever?)
Lee young pyo too my friendAshley Young played left back for ages.

Seeing a blue background then Trix's name and Ashley Young as the first two words of the post nearly gave me a heart attack!Ashley Young played left back for ages.
He's not a left back thoughMaldini and Irwin did ok. Loads of more recent examples as tactics evolve as well.
That was going to be my uninformed guess, they can flog him and get a comprable defender (that probably suits Jose’s team better) in on a free. Why are Roma so happy to sell him? Do we have any regular watchers of Serie A on here that could give some insight.
He seems to have a lot of the qualities we are looking for to work in a high line - fast, aggressive, decent enough on the ball, can play left or right centre back.
I would still be disappointed if we didn't manage to sign Laporte as well but at 30m euros Ibanez does seem like a good squad signing to replace Sanchez/Tanganga/Dier/Rodon.

unrealistic but I want all of them replaced (Rodon does not need replacing as he is not part of the squad though)Why are Roma so happy to sell him? Do we have any regular watchers of Serie A on here that could give some insight.

Is he any good in the air? Feel like if we're want a partner for Romero we could really use someone tall and dominant in the air while looking at the stats Ibanez is below average for aerials won.
Edit: sorry for asking a question
Thanks - that's encouraging to hear (except for the big errors part).I'm concerned about Ibanez as he is known for making big errors but this in bold needs a bit more context.
Whilst you are correct that for Aerials Won he is at 1.96 (44th percentile) which is average, arguably the most important stat is Aerial Win % and for this he sits at 68.5% which puts him in the top 86th percentile which is very good.
This likely means that for whatever reason he isn't contesting a huge amount of aerial duels. This could be for a number of reasons. If he's playing as a LCB in a 3 he may not have to deal with a high volume of high balls etc. Perhaps Roma's style means he isn't the CB who engages aerial balls primarily etc. The only way to analyse this further is live/video scouting. But purely in terms of his win % he's doing very well aerially.

Smalling is the person that often goes for the aerial duals.I'm concerned about Ibanez as he is known for making big errors but this in bold needs a bit more context.
