its a negotiation guys. And in negotiations you have people standing fast and not accepting things. Otherwise it would be called a simple transaction!

Surely they wouldn't scrap the talks when we are so close with the numbers, there is a difference of a few million, surely the negotiations would carry on.

but have you not read the last few pages and twitter?

ITS OVER!!!!

It sounds like its close, and i dont see why talks cant keep going if we still want him. Dont they need the money to pay off loans?

Nah, this is Spurs. Something has changed. Sounds like Levy has (again) moved the goalposts on a deal as is reported so many times and we have lost it.

Need to move on now and find a Plan B (if there even is one) as the season is fast approaching.

You just made that up. What shred of evidence do you have to say Levy changed the offer made yesterday ?

No issue with Levy playing hard-ball to a degree, BUT we might need to keep a careful eye on Liverpool... if we are the only team really able to be in with a shout of him right now then it makes sense, but if liverepool are waiting to gazump the whole thing then we might have a big issue.

Valencia are in deep trouble financially, they do need the money and we can to a degree play hard-ball, there just has to be a point where we have to consider conceding a little to ensure we get the player and not another club.

Sorry but I really can't see Valencia in the state they are in rejecting that amount of money. I'm still quite confident we will get our man.

Think the position is this :

1 Valencia need the cash - when I last looked they had been taken over by the 'bust' local goivernment who had guaranteed some of Valencia's loans and the local government need repayment. If its moved on from there, Valencia still need cash desperately to pay loan interest and repay their loans.

2 Soldardo's buy out clause is high. IMO its very possible that nobody will meet it.

That means that Valencia will want to come back to those who have put in a decent offer for the player to try to get the best offer they can.

Spurs offer seemed to meet Valencia's approximate figure but include 'add ons' etc.

IMO the battle for Soldardo may not be over even if current twitter ITK is correct

Ok deep breath. Lets not panic yet. I still think we'll do this.

LAST MINUTE POSTURING BETWEEN BOTH PARTIES.

Ryantegan's comment above and a fair few Spanish journos on Twitter (leaks are commonplace with Valencia, nothing gets past the journos). The links were in this thread earlier. Read back.

Bringing back some realism here

How many times must we have had a bid rejected for a player, this doesn't mean the deal is over- how could tottenham ever complete a non-complicated deal

Most worrying thing is that other clubs are out there and now have time to discuss this with knowing the numbers. Not confident...

saw on twitter that the offer wasnt upped.

So nothing to do with Levy moving goal posts, just that they didnt want to accept our offer
