I agree, I very much thought the season Leicester won the league he was chasing down the ball all over the place? The whole team did....... as well as cheat!

If we're going to spend that much on a player then wouldn't it be better to go after a more consistent performer? They won't accept less than 40m for him imo which is almost lemar territory

I'd take him in a heart beat, I was saying we should take a punt on him before Leicester fluked and cheats their way to the title. Skilful, quick and inventive he could be a real game changer and add another dimension to our attack

The naysayers saying he doesn't track back - none of our attacking players do because we press high up, something Mahrez had done before last season and I'm sure would do in our environment

Mahrez, Barkley and a RB I'd be pretty content with

Doubt we'll sign him. He's on massive wages for a start (120k iirc), and i don't see why we would break our wage structure for such a streaky player.

Something our fans need to realize is that we are one Eriksen knock from becoming a stout defensive team who will struggle to score more than 2 goals; even as good as the supporting cast is we have a severe lack of playmakers and creativity outside of Christian. Alli and Son are excellent with movement and link up play, and Alli has delivered some nice final balls but neither can string together play on the level of Eriksen. Mahrez is a fearless, marauding wing who oozes creativity in every touch and has surprisingly good vision. I think the need for a secondary playmaker from the wing, especially as we lack Walker and possibly Rose's pace, is absolutely crucial to our success.

I'd pay £40m for him, seriously. The need for a playmaker on the wing is something we must address to have a chance of the title.

Not sure why one bad season makes someone a streaky player. He did pretty well the season he signed for Leicester and then was an absolute beast the next season when they won the league. Last year Leicester clearly had off field issues that affected all of their players.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

:poop: really not enthused by this at all, one, once in a lifetime season that's all he had, and would be so expensive.

Positives

Got that extra quality we need
Exceptional dribbling ability - something we tend to lack
PL winner - may help us get over the line in a title fight
Excellent crosser
Very direct
Superb finisher

Negatives

Questions over his work ethic
Whenever I have seen him he doesn't tend to do a lot and seemed to wait for the ball to find its way to him
We don't play counter attacking football so much more would be expected of him
His salary

I don't see us getting him, simply because I am certain the Arse will make a dash for him late and I reckon he'd prefer to go there.

It'd be really odd if we try to sign him. He's not in the mould of Keita and he'd probably be an alternative to Barkley - but he won't be any cheaper than Ross so I'd be very surprised if our interest goes any further.

I've argued earlier this summer that there is no way we would sign both Barkley and Mahrez, the one is the backup plan to the other. However, Barkley has more experience centrally, Mahrez more from the wings. So theoretically, one could fit both into one team. At the end of the day though, I suspect it's one or the other.

He's far more similar to Keita than he is to Barkley.
