#thfc I gather Spurs have no plans to move for Alfie Mawson or Ricardo Pereira.

From local journo Ben Pearce.

FYI for those who doubt Paul O'keefe, he does get info from a few journos. He's sent me screen shots of their DM's on a number of occasions. Doesn't take a genius to work out which ones they are as he will tweet their articles for them to get increased hits.

I'm a bit slow on this; is this guy reliable?

He's been one of the beat reporters covering Spurs for a few years - he definitely has contacts at the club.

Yeah he's great, especially for team news and post game interviews etc... Not sure how near the top table his sources would be in terms of transfers, or if he had a decent hit rate in the past, but certainly covers Spurs very well and doesn't strike me as someone to make stuff up, or care to seek glory for claiming a scoop.

A bit spammy I know, but I used to work with a Japanese girl who's surname was Takenoshita.

Never been so jealous of someone's name in my life..

Except my buddy, Dmitry Fuckrightov maybe.:D

Prefer her sister - Takeupdashita!

I'd put more weight on JJ info re Pereira, but maybe we walked away and then went back again recently, like JJ says some sources are a few days behind...

We've been so hard to read this summer, there's no way we're laying our cards on the table even for the nice journos.
I quite like the fact that the sources have kind of dried up the bottom line is that its the clubs business to resolve, but I loathe journos with a passion. Just wish they would stop making bollocks up when there isn't an ounce of truth in it.

JJ on Pereira:

Is it going to happen?

Maybe but the lowballing stories are just rubbish
Haven't posted for a long time. Here's how I interpret all of the rumours etc

We have been interested in Pereira since we knew we were likely to need a replacement for Walker. This goes back to March or April, if not earlier. We were already watching him and, in watching him, we became interested in Vincent Marcel (one for the future perhaps if he continues to progress). The interest/need to scout him was already there. He was/is a bona fide target, probably top of the list.

One can only presume that there had already been talks about what it would take to get him. For a player who was not even in the Porto setup last year, and who still does not appear would be a guaranteed starter at Porto, any funds they could get for him would be a bonus. I suspect that amount was more than we wanted to pay and less than what the buyout clause stated. Now that we have the Walker cash, they want the buyout amount, or very close to it. Levy, being Levy, has a value for the player and is unlikely to allow the sale of Walker to increase that number.

His versatility suggests he could play RB, RW and both CB positions. This is something we all know Pochettino likes. Porto are flush with CB's, FB's and wingers. Anything over 15M GBP for a 23 year old sub with two years left on his contract is pretty good. Would not be surprised to see Wimmer sell for about 18M and he is a year older, needs playing time to get in the WC, so pretty much the same situation - too good to sit, other/better talent in front of him.

The current problem, I suspect, is Sissoko. If we cannot move, he will stay. Levy is unlikely to bring in someone just to have him sit at his ridiculous wage. Even mores if we are having to pay 22M GBP and wages for the replacement. Were Sissoko already gone, this deal would have been done. Pereira can also competently play a direct RW with ability to deliver crosses at speed. This is something I suspect Poch was hoping for with Sissoko.

Perfect cover for Trippier and bench player because of his abilities. Just need Sissoko resolved (or at least looking to be resolved) and Pereira will be in. I also suspect as this acquisition will allow Wimmer to go too. Pereira could be cover for any of the three while allowing the obvious young Spurs who are not loaned out playing time and opportunities (Winks, Onomah, Sterling, CCV, KWP and perhaps Marcus Edwards).

I expect this deal will get done, Sissoko will go and Barkley will come in. The only question is, how close to deadline day does it all happen.

On another note, as an alternative to Sessegnon (who we should get) have a look at Alfonso Davies. Who you ask????? Exactly. Going to be a great winger.

I'm sticking with jj on this one, he goes against the grain regularly and is almost always right. A lot of info reads like its come from the club atm and I'm not sure there intentions would always be genuine.
