I watched the entire game. We looked awful. Did not deserve the win. Very lucky to win. QPR had much, much better chances. They just couldnt finish.
Whatever....

So he doesn't play the way poch wants.
And he doesn't overlap enough and still...still gives the LW/LB a chance to easily get behind him because his tracking positioning is so awful.
And he doesn't block enough cross attempts when he has tracked properly (though that could also be said for rose/davies though to an extent). It's just too easy to get a cross in on him.
He's a destabilising element in the defense, brings too much uncertainty/rashness in his play.
Can't deal with him anymore.
Lamela has a footballing brain. He tries to overuse it sometimes and over-think and complicate things, that's his problem. If Lamela can get away with the 'he presses, and works hard, and that's what Poch wants' tag, then so can Walker.

Walker is devoid of one, that's his.
Whatever anyway...the guy won't be able to stay if he continues to drop huge ones every week, regardless of what's said on here.
I have to be honest with you, @Spurs_Bear - I actually water down my criticism of Walker, so as not to offend people.Yeah whatever...

You don't have to worry about offending me J, I don't think the sun shines out of Walker's arsehole, I just don't like double standards, something for which I could never label you with for obvious reasons. We're all talking about Walker running the ball into the keeper when put through, nobody has mentioned yet Vertonghen wasting an even better chance when clean through.
Walker is a conundrum in that we clearly are better when he plays, without it being much of his own doing, and while he is as frustrating as hell, I don't know who we replace him with at this moment in time.
But it's not double standards. I can't remember anyone not caveating any praise for Lamela with the obvious "buts". But he does make poor decisions sometimes, but he can be a bit reckless, but he makes mistakes etc etc. I can't remember seeing too many hang their hat on Lamella making it big time. Few would be stupid or genius to predict that of a player who clearly has flaws.
But (another but) there are differences in their circumstances and that has to get taken into consideration. One is a 23yo argentinian forward having his first proper season in England, not often being played in his ideal (or very best) position, one is a 24yo English RB playing his 4th full season in the EPL, having played 3 full seasons in the championship, all in his specialist position.
And though Lamela has had the odd brainfart, even he doesn't do the absurd shit with the regularity that Walker does. I can't remember a player who has ever done the amount of daft stuff Walker does.
Like you, I get the conundrum, I used the same phrase in my post. He doesn't hide, he involves himself continually in the game, he gets up and down tirelessly, which does positively effect the dynamics of how we can operate, but in an attacking sense it's vitally all for nothing, he so very rarely does anything intelligent when he gets there, and though his defending can be competent, it's rarely inspiring over and above anything you would expect from an EPL RB.
Most of us know finding a top class fb won't be a piss of piss, but surely all of us know we need to be trying fucking hard to find an alternative to Walker because when shit comes to shove even those that used to defend him are realising he just isn't right.
And this is the thing with Lamela, my argument for him is that right now, like Walker, as flawed as Lamela can be, he's the best option for his position, but if he doesn't mature the way Walker hasn't matured then we'll all be saying exactly the same about Lamela, and it won't take people 4 seasons either.
Palacios did the same amount of daft stuff. Rated him though didn't you?
The whole indexing of every little thing Walker does in a game when writing your war and peace match reports is what's unnecessary, especially when you don't bother doing it for others.
Bollocks did he. He gave the very odd hospital square pass, but he never thunder clapped a ball sailing over his head, or tried a 100 ft high hail mary back pass at Anfield, etc etc etfuckingcetera.
I can't list the bizarre shit everyone else does because no-one does as much silly shit Walker does. I almost find his consistently unique brand of fuckwittery amusing. Almost.
Why didn't Vertonghen's similar fuck up when coasting into the area (failing even to dribble into the keeper) make your list?
Palacios did, you just failed to acknowledge it and kept quoting pass completion stats, even in the game his own home fans cheered when he managed to find one of his own team members.
hope you weren't one of them bear, those who did i consider to be complete and utter twats.
I think Vertonghen is a handbags merchant. I am not seeing any leadership from him.Well if people think Walker's bad, what are those same people's views on Vertonghen?
We're clearly a better team with Walker, his defending actually is pretty good we saw against one of the best players in the EPL (hazard) that Walker on one to one defending takes some beating
Vertonghen on the other hand gets away with murder, he just can't defend, yet people continue to rate him, which is strange.

i thought mason was superb, proper riled them. so i voted for him.
Has he ever shown leadership credentials? That was an obvious myth (that he was captaincy material) from the very early days.
He captained Ajax I believe.
