Really enjoyed that. Front 3 aside everyone played well and to be fair to Kulu, he wasn't THAT bad.
Bissouma is a joy to watch, Sarr is fascinating as he is undoubtably talented but looks so awkward, he reminds me of Paulo Wanchope in his running style.
Maddison was good, Udogie is going to be a special player. Would be nice to pair him with Perisic as Udogie under and overlaps would be found because Son is either incapable of seeing and playing the pass, or refusing to do so.
Romero showed a few glimpses of restraint today at times he would have smashed into a tackle/player normally.
VDV could still be anything at this point but looked good.
Vicario - he has some seriously impressive reactions, despite Neville trying to make out some saves were routine because they were above his head

Sarr

Scored his first goal for us, was tidy in possession, but what most impressed me was his defensive work

Give it to vic probably not the motm but the boy showed massive bottle after what has been a fairly shaky start and I'm excited for him think that just be the making of him.

The midfield 3 were outstanding, special mentions for Udogie, Romero and the keeper. So many positives. Ange 10.

Sarr and Bissouma couldn’t get a game under the dinosaur but they have just bossed it today. Sarr is an unreal talent. Said it many times. Bissouma was just immense two best players on pitch. Not much between them for motm. Shout out to Vic. Was brilliant. 2 amazing saves

Vicario 8 - clean sheet and some fine reaction saves.

Porro 7.5 - First half gave the ball away twice when receiving from Vicario. Much better second half and looked really dangerous in attack and solid defensively
Romero 7- Nervous start but settled well
VDV 7 - Struggled with the pace at times I felt and sometimes caught a little flat footed. But did not do too much wrong.
Udogie 8 - Serious impressive stuff in only 2nd league game.

Bissouma 9 - Boss man
Maddison 9 - Such a creative outlet for us. Nightmare for United to deal with
Sarr 8 - Excellent assured performance and a crucial goal.

Son 6.5 - Better than last week but always a split second too slow with passing and shooting
Richarlison 5 - I feel like I can copy and paste his rating every week. Worked hard but offered little threat. He needs to find a way to get into better positions. His movement off the ball is just not good enough right now.
Kulusevski 6 - Looked like a threat but let down by poor final product. He did link up well with Sarr down th left wing though on occasion.

Other observations:

- Ange's style of football = life
- Soloman looked like a tricky little fucker when he came on. I'd like to see him get more opportunities
- Perisic and Davies both put in solid shifts
- We need a pacey striker desperately
- Watched on TV but stadium was rocking. Joy to see.
- United players (current and ex) are a bit wanky

Suddenly our midfield looks world class. Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Bentancur, plus Hojberg and Lo Celso. Wonder who plays when everyone's fit

Bissouma, Bentancar Maddison . But sarr looks a proper baller and can play many roles

First half and second half were light years apart. I thought we were very disjointed first half and although we still did ok and threatened, they could’ve scored at least 2 or 3 and there was so much space at the back.

As per pretty much every pre season game and last week’s game, we performed a lot better in the second half. Postecoglou must be feeding them Vegemite at half time or something.

Bissouma was just amazing but I’m giving my motm to Sarr who was everywhere and scored. Vicario was excellent too. Everyone was excellent really, though the front 3 were again off in the first half. but Richy and Kulu were much better second half. Son did better too though still seems nervous to completely let himself go, weirdly.

What an atmosphere. I finally get what Russ Abbott meant.

Considering we've not only changed to a polar opposite system / style of play compared to last season, but have also overhauled 2/3 of the starting line-up, this was a very promising performance for this point in the season. I can't wait to see how we're playing in a month's time, let-alone in the second half of the season.

Vicario - 8 - Some good saves and looked fairly comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Porro - 7 - Got caught out on the half-turn a few times in the first half, but I think this is just a learning curve in the new system. Looked good offensively, overlapping the RW nicely.
Romero - 8 - best CB on the pitch and picked out some decent forward passes.
van de Ven - 7 - I think he's shown enough that Ange won't be too worried if we don't sign another "top quality" CB this summer.
Udogie - 7 - Another decent performance. Like Porro, I think there's room for improvement when we're playing it out from the back.
Bissouma - 9 - Dominated the midfield, in and out of possession.
Sarr - 8 - Very good in and out of possession. Has to retain the starting spot after this performance. Before today, I was more concerned about CM while Bentancur recovers.
Maddison - 7 - Looked very good on the ball, but he flattered to deceive in the final third at times (I think he will be picking incisive passes more frequently once the team has settled into this new system together).
Kulusevski - 6 - Was involved in some promising attacking moves, but has shown more in the past.
Son - 6 - Better than many of his performances last season, but more to come as he starts linking up with Maddison & Richarlison.
Richarlison - 5 - I don't think he did much wrong, but he had minimal impact. His movement & presence did create space for others.

Perisic - 7 - Once again showing that he has a role to play this season, coming off the bench. Some good balls into the box, but also knew when to cut back and retain possession to see out the game.
Davies - 7 - Solid performance.
Højbjerg - 7 - Helped us to calmly retain possession to see out the game. One misplaced pass almost created an opening for Utd, but his passing and movement was otherwise good. Much better than Skipp's performance last weekend, so I wouldn't mind him staying for now (can't match the dynamic play of Bissouma or Sarr though).
Solomon - 6 - Not much involvment, but some decent touches and movement. If Kulusevski doesn't make a significant impact soon, I could see Solomon getting a start before the international break.
Emerson - 6 - Got away with a mistake, but otherwise an assured performance.

A lot of very good performances.

Maddison was fabulous again.

But it's between Bissouma and Sarr. They were the two exceptional performances out there.

I loved Sarr's recovery tackle.

Shout out to the crowd what an atmosphere and players like Mount and Anthony just shrunk.

Vicario pulled of a couple of outstanding saves when we really needed him to, comfortable in distribution.

Porro and VDV guilty of some sloppy moments in the first half but both came right and had strong games. Romero was a rock and led the defence well. Udogie what a good player, gave Anthony nothing and good going forward.

Bissouma really carried the transition in the first half when we struggled at times, this guy put in another MOTM performance. Sarr really good, couple of sloppy moments but What a moment for him scoring in front of the South Stand. Maddison is just so good on the ball but the linkage with Son just wasn’t happening.

Son, Richy and Kulu just not happening for them. Lots of effort but Son out left got nothing out of Bissaka and decision making looks a little laboured. Richy pressed hard but not looking threatening. Kulu had couple of moments but just lacking that bit of quality when it was needed.

Big result for Ange and didn’t he love it.

Gave it to Sarr because in top of his performance he scored the goal that decided the match and because Bissouma is going to be voted MOM virtually every week

Vicario 8 - some phenomenal and vital saves

Porro 8 - best defensive display in a spurs shirt and we all know how good he is going forwards

Romero 8 - pretty solid and played out the back nicely

VDV - 7.5 - not quite as good as Romero today but still absolutely class

Udogie - 7 - solid

Bissouma - 9 - phenomenal player. Imo best CM we’ve had since Dembele

Sarr - 8 - incredible box to box talent. I’ll whisper it but reminds me a lot of Vieira

Maddison - 8 - so silky, makes us tick. Hope he’s not injured !

Kulu - 7 - grew into the game

Son - 7.5 - better today

Richy - 7 - some good hold up play, some poor touches, not much service, worked hard. Hope he gets a goal soon for confidence but think we absolutely need to sign another striker.

Ange 10! - “OOOHHH ANGE POSTEGOGLOUUUUU” 🦘

Most I’ve enjoyed the pre, during and post game atmosphere for a good 4-5 years.

Happy days!
