I predicted a score draw and would have taken it before the match.

Saying that we played better than I thought despite not having more composure at times in key areas.

Dier doing his usual performance at centre half. kids you in believing for 99 per cent of a game that he is the best English Centre half and then turns into Titus Bramble for one moment and ruins it as per usual.

Motm - Hugo

Had Dier not conceded the pen he would've been my MOTM. As it is, it has to be Hugo for his series of superb saves.

Credit also to Davies who showed why Mourinho likes him at LB/LCB when Aurier pushes up into attack.

And once Bergwijn gets used to 90 minutes instead of being dead on his feet at 60 he'll be absolutely fantastic for us. He's got all the tools to be one of the best in the league.

We executed the game plan very well for almost 60 minutes but the last half hour was nowhere near good enough. The big question to Mourinho is why only use 2/5 subs and especially why not bring on Sessegnon and Ndombele? And why did we sit so deep, are our players not fit enough to push up just 10 metres higher and give us some breathing space? There's defending deep well and there's defending so deep we can't get out and we did far more of the latter in the second half.

I'm still struggling to fathom our tactics second half coupled with Jose's inability to actively change this.

We have far too many players here who seemingly can't last 90mins.

Worrying.

LLloris, Dier and Bergwijn the best 3 players for us imo.
Lamela and Sissoko also had good games.

Wink/Sissoko pairing looked better than I was dreading, but we still have no control in cm.

Dire tactics which didn't allow any players the opportunity shine. Sissoko was ok.

Jose out!
First game since the start of this pandemic. Can't you just be happy to watch some football, without immediately descending into negativity. That said, if you are simply being facetious... then, um... hahaha!

Sissoko and Lloris were both very good tonight.
Dier made a major mistake, which was a shame, as he'd been really good up until that point. Given him more time at CB and I think he'll come good and eventually evolve into a quality defender. Potentially our future captain.
Kane wasn't really at the races. Looked sluggish and tentative most of the game. Which is hardly all that surprising, given how long he has been out... and when you do a bad hamstring tear, you do tend to be extra cautious when you return. Sadly, many players find it hard to get back to their best selves when they suffer this type of injury. So, I don't see we'll see the best of Harry until the fall.
Winks was okay most of the game. Focused and dilligent. But I just wish that when we are breaking in the opponent's half, he would hold the ball a bit longer until he draws a player out. He always seems to pass it way too early in those areas.
Thought Stevie and Sonny were in-and-out of the game. Again, both coming back from difficult injuries. And without Lucas on the bench, they knew that they'd need to play a big chunk of the game.
I was probably most disappointed in Lamela. He flitted in and out too, and misplaced passes galore. He's a funny one. He always seems like a player possessed when he comes on as a sub. Yet when he starts, he sometimes plays within himself. Can't really figure out why.

Jose set up the team to play on the counter, and it worked, if not for Dier's error. Yes, Utd had a few other gilt-edged chances, but a few of them came from mistakes from Aurier (who was poor today) and Davinson (who had some nice moments, and some turgid).

Davies was also pretty good tonight. Solid defensively, but often looked a bit outnumbered on his side of the field. Probably due to Son not always getting back in time.

I don't think there's any reason to get upset with Jose. His tactics for the game were pragmatic and worked okay for the most part. The reality, is that most players, for us and other teams, aren't going to be fully 100%. So, you deal with the cards your dealt.

Not rating players until they are allowed to play.

Jose - 4 - Counter attack tactics that almost worked only cos Bergwijn goal, which was not a result of good football. He needs to let us play. He needs to let players break forward and give early options.

8 - Lloris, Sanchez
7 - Davies, Lamela, Bergwijn (+1 for the goal)
6 - Dier (-1 for the pen), Winks, Sissoko, Son,
5 - Aurier, Mourinho
3 - Kane

5 subs and you only played 2 when only a fool could not see that we were crying out for fitter legs in the last 15minutes
