I agree that we had a plan to hit them on the counter but I don't think the plan was to be so careless with possession in all areas of the pitch, to defend on our 18 yard line and to not bother to press in the second half when Arsenal turned up the heat.Mate that's just not correct, honestly.
i think there was a fear against Liverpool in particular. They beat us 9-0 on aggregate last season after all. City beat us 11-1 on aggregate. It was those sides I was referring more to in terms of any sort of psychological damage.
Arsenal had beaten us 1-0 home and away. Just a tad different. I think we feared Liverpool and froze so to speak. Yesterday was a clear game plan.
It was also nothing to do with fear that resulted in some sloppy moments on the counter. It was just poor execution - and decision making.
You're seriously not implying that if you have an approach to sit deep and defend and counter that there's never a time in the game that you won't have a brief spell of pressure of some kind? Which we did five minutes before half time. We put some pressure on them and had a few corners as well I think.
As for Arsenal's chances, no they wern't as good. I've watched the game twice now and nothing's going to change my mind on that.
