To be fair I think that was one of AVB's biggest mistakes. He wanted to implement his style and VDV didn;t quite fit in with it and Siggy did. VDV wasn't going to take on a bit part role at that time and Levy saw an opportunity to make a few quid back.

It suited everyone apart from the fans and our results imo.

Can see why AVB's style bombed if VDV didn't fit it and Siggy did !

it will sound judgmental, but its sort of chickenshit to split on your wife because she got cancer. Lance Armstrong did the same thing. People do it all the time, though.
Thought he stayed in Madrid an extra year, even though he knew he wasn't wanted there so she could continue her treatment in a stable environment.

He didn't split with her because she got cancer. She split with him cause he hit her (reportedly because he found out she cheated on him). Not that that's much better mind..

He was with his wife through the cancer. It was when she was shagging someone else that he smacked her.

Got no problem if Rafa wanted to go and he didn't fit what AvB wanted but neither Clint nor Glyfi are even close to being as good on the ball as Rafa, we made a massive mistake buying both these players and not buying a suitable replacement.

When have we ever purchased a suitable replacement? We replaced Carrick with Zokora and replaced the Keane & Berbartov partnership with Bent & Pav.

It's not a like for like replacement. We used the Berba money for Modric and Pav. We used the Modric money for Lloris, Verts and Siggs. We used the Bale money for 7 players.

Even the teams with the best scouts in the world will not get it 100% all the time. So when replacing players like Berba you get 2 or 3 replacements to reduce your risk (clubs our size do).

And cool chirpy with two subsequent creepier chirpies. And Harry with Andre. And Robbo with The Octopus.

Legs had gone before we sold him.

I hate that bloody term. He may not be the fastest but he never was, he prob covers slightly less ground now but I bet its more than Berbs (and Soladado) and people would have creamed their pants to get him back.

He never had any pace anyway, but the guy had literally got no running left in him by the end of the season.

Probably half down to Redknapp's refusal to rotate effectively, but still, you can't be effective in the Premier League if you can't run.

Players like VDV and Pirlo could continue to cut it in Italy and Spain, but England? No chance.
