In Levy’s interview he said ENIC would not change their policy

I’d imagine the increased stadium matchday income will negate the loss of CL football should that happen

No way we go mad with the cheque book and actually try and buy a cup or League. God forbid
The no change policy means that we stay as we are nearly men winning fuck all but skimming the fan's with top dollar prices.

Two steps forward, two steps back:singing:

What’s the betting we virtually make up a 12 point gap to Chelsea and then go back to said 12 point gap within the space of two months!

We can’t win at Norwich, that doesn’t give me big confidence about getting 3 points at Southampton.
Brighton play a style that will suit Chelsea down to the ground, can see them winning there.

After them games we are getting absolutely skull fucked by Liverpool.

There is no upside but not qualifying every season is a reality for every team bar City over the last five seasons.

Therefore ENIC need to accept this and put things into place to mitigate the financial shortfall. As I said earlier, going as deep as we can (winning it too lol) this season would help.
Let's face it, qualifying this season was a bit of a a bonus given our dreadful form most of last season and the money earned from getting to the final should have put the profit well ahead of forecasts

I don't think people have realised what the new CL prize money deal means for the clubs who are in it and the ones who aren't. The money is on a different level to previous years. Bayern got more for winning our group this season than Real Madrid got for winning the whole thing in 2016.

We've made €60m already in prize/TV rights money just by getting out of our group this season. Chelsea got €73m. Liverpool and City €76m and €78m. Just for getting into the last sixteen.

The new stadium won't come close to offsetting the loss of that kind of revenue. Levy knows the importance of this competition to the future of our club. It's our only way of competing with the worldwide appeal of Liverpool and United and the financial clout of City and, to a lesser extent, Chelsea.

We have to be in it just to level the playing field a bit.

Five points to the chavs is not the problem, so many games left, the problem is we are not good enough.
I would say we are good enough, just not consistent enough.

Wins breed confidence and confidence breeds consistency

We need and can go on a run as our 2nd half fixtures look a lot kinder than the 1st half

If our entire business model is predicated on qualifying for the CL every season then that seems a pretty dimwitted best of doing things, especially considering the lack of investment in the team while we were in the competition.
We're not qualifying for the CL this year. The club is just gonna have to suck it up, and if that means our medium term planning is screwed, well that's a pretty sorry state of affairs.

Still plenty of games left and there will be twists and turns along the way. I see it being similar to last season, we'll drop points as will Chelsea (usually at home) and others chasing top 4. We closed the gap on them before and we can do it again. This is the most competitive league in the world but people still expect us to win frequently. It's not going to happen, just look to City for example of that. We definitely have a lot to improve on especially at the back but so does everyone outside of Liverpool and probably Leicester.

Well, let us hope he sanctions the purchase of a DM in January to keep us in the run for a top 4 finish.

We are not consistent enough largely due to the fact we are not good enough.
20 games in, plus since January how many prem games have we played well in? Out of approx 40 games probably under 10.....that I'm afraid isn't inconsistent, it's really not good enough and the sooner we realise it the better..... This squad needs a major overhaul.

Financially we are a very well run club, it’s not like we will go bust without CL and I am sure that Levy has sound contingency plans in place for when we don’t make top 4, which we won’t always.

But this doesn’t alter the fact that playing in the CL puts our revenue and potential to invest in the team on a completely different level, and failing to make top 4 will inevitably increase the gap between the top teams.

We know that we are not the play thing for a mega rich owner who is happy to be throwing their own money at this. So it is simply a question of what we can spend with CL and what we can spend without it and right now that is very significant difference

It would be useful if Danny could sort out the naming rights for the stadium and hopefully fund some the much needed ovehual.... Going forward is not really a problem, we must sort out the defensive part of our game, we are far too open, we need full backs, holding player and a top top keeper.

True

We're not a million miles off top 3, which is both a relief and incredibly frustrating

We're more than good enough for top 4, but I think our attitude is really questionnable at times.

Starting games so flatly is contributing massively to our problems.

We're lifeless looking before we go a goal down.
