We can only have 7 maximum in Europe.
Same happened when Man Utd won Europa, following season England had 5 in Cl, 2 in Europa.

If Wolves won Europa (and say positions ended where they are now), and Arsenal won FA Cup

Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Leicester and Wolves would be in CL
Man Utd and Arsenal would be in Europa.
6th place would miss out

My apologizes, you are correct. We can have a maximum of 7 clubs in European football, spread over the CL and Europa. But if Wolves won the Europa and finished 6th and the gooners lost the FA cup, I believe we would still qualify for the Europa if we finished 7th.

Correct. Arsenal losing the FA Cup would open up a space, meaning 6th would be guaranteed a spot, or 7th in your scenario but at the moment only Top 5 are guaranteed places.

If Chelsea lose to Liverpool tonight, they have to take a point against Wolves to be certain of top 4. Time to cheer on the Scousers :yuck:

It's not a strict maximum of 7 teams in Europe. It's a maximum of 5 in the Champions League, and if someone finishing in a Europa spot gets in by winning the Europa, that spot doesn't get handed down to the next best team in the league. However, if they finish outside the European places and win it, it doesn't impact the other qualified teams. So if it's Tottenham 6th, Wolves 7th we'll still get in; it's just that if it's Wolves 6th, Tottenham 7th and Arsenal win the cup then we won't, regardless of whether Wolves are upgraded to the CL or not.

tl;dr Wolves winning the Europa League does not have any effect whatsoever on us.

That is wrong, there is a strict maximum of 7 clubs from any country in UEFA's rules, and is on the Premier League piece that I attached on prior page (literally the first line of it)
However they do state that UEFA does reserve the right to change the conditions of the access list, so they could decide to change their rules and allow an 8th team in, but would be unprecedented since the access list was amended a few seasons back, and it is by no means guaranteed.

They're wrong, in this case. 7 is the maximum in normal circumstances and indeed more than that hasn't yet happened in the current format, but there's nothing to prevent it in the regulation and therefore the theoretical maximum is 9 (if a league with 7 European places had two teams with the two European competitions without either finishing the in European spots). The Champions League regs (first link) detail the 5-team maximum for that competition (3.07), but there's absolutely nothing about a 7-team total maximum either in there or the Europa League regs (second link).

Also in those Europa regs: "If the UEFA Europa League titleholder qualifies for the UEFA Europa League through one of its domestic competitions, the number of places to which its association is entitled in the UEFA Europa League is decreased by one." The implication therefore being that if the titleholder does not qualify for the Europa League through domestic competition, the number of places is not reduced.

Anyone else hoping the points we have right now will be enough for 6th lol!! Wolves could destroy that hope within the next hour and a half but here’s hoping lol

Palace beat Watford just before lockdown and Bournemouth first game back, which made them safe from relegation. They are now on course to lose 7 games in a row.

Bet they suddenly look world class against us.

I confidently predict that we won't be in Europe next season because either:
a) We lose at Palace and the Goons win their last two games, so both they and Wolves finish above us; or
b) we finish seventh but the Goons win the FA Cup.

I'd take b) as the more likely as I think we'll probably draw with Palace and our goal difference is six better than the Arse. But if we can fuck it up, we probably will.
